Should alcohol manufacturers be permitted to advertise on television?

  • It affects the health of children.

Younger people are especially sensitive to perceptions of society and peers. They can be convinced that smoking and drinking, since they are reserved for older people, make one look more mature. This was why this kind of advertising was restricted in the first place. There is a difference between teens wearing saggy jeans and smoking. One kills most of the people who participate in it. The other just bothers older people.

  • As long as they show responsible drinking.

Advertisers should be allowed to advertise drinking, but they should advertise in a different persective than they already do. They shouldn't advertise that drinking alcohol will make anything better, but that drinking responsibly is the better way to go. But if the advertisers want to show people having a good time at a party drinking, then they should also show the aftermath, so then, the consumers know the risk, and can make their own choices knowing the consequences.

  • Ad Age restrictions

Teens nowadays are watching t.V all the time. When alcohol commercials come on and teens see all these's "cool" people drinking and party and saying how great this alcohol is its just an illusion. Why don't these alcohol ads show what happens to them as there driving home. The accidents that could happen? The trouble you could get into?

  • Yes they should.

Asking if Alcohol companies should be able to advertise is like asking if Apple should be able to advertise. If companies weren't able to advertise, then how would they get business? YES having alcohol companies advertise on kids shows is wrong, but if they are only able to advertise on adult shows, the under age drinking rate, I think, would go down a lot. I say if people weren't able to advertise, then those companies would go out of business.

  • They are extremely superficial

The main goal of an advertisement is to appeal to the viewer emotionally and imaginatively. Alcohol commercials show in a false light. In a way they are showing you that when you drink... Nothing will go wrong. "Its all fun and games," but its not.... They fail to reveal what can result from drinking, like how many alcohol induced accidents occur every year, what it does to your reaction time and common sense, and what addiction could do to not only adults but teenagers engaging in the activity. It is detrimental to our society

  • How else are they gonna get enough buyers?

They are not gonna get enough buyers if they do not advertise on TV. They would lose a lot of money and go out of business which can hurt our economy. Thousands if not millions of people will be out of work if that happens. They need to advertise on TV.

  • Yes its fine

People should be allowed to promote advertise alcohol, beer is to over exaggerated in society, its only a problem when you combine it with a few irresponsible's. Its not like there promoting meth or prostitution. And of course they need to be advertised, its just common sense. The only people that would argue against this will be ex alcoholic mothers who are naïve and have the argument that children are susceptible to the world.

  • No Alcohol on TV

No one should be adverting Alcohol on TV because it could get on a kid channel which could encourage kids at a young age to drink or do anything like that because drinking is bad on kid channels or on any channel because it could be a kid watching or looking at that channel so no alcohol

  • Not good for kids

Nowadays, teens and kids watch t.V too. When they are about to watch a movie than alcohol advert, it suddenly comes out, they wouldn't get any interested. So alcohol manufacturers advertising on television would be useless . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .

  • Health arguments are invalid

We can all argue that teens will see the ads and think about how fun it is to drink this alcohol but do teens ever think about how much wait they will gain from buying a Big Mac or the harm of diabetes in the unites states due to child obesity. Children are impressionable I think that alcohol should be banned ONLY if fast food commercials are banned

  • Convinces them to do wrong

Wrong because they think its ok and it not because there are life threatening issues that come with drinking and it is unfair to do this to a teen who is aware of societys perceptions and how they make and change peoples views on alcohol and doing all these things

  • If their isn't a ban on drinking it there shouldn't be one on the ads that provide it

I have reason to believe that if there is not a ban on Alcohol then there should be no reason for their ads to be banned. Yes, They do affect children's decisions, BUT they will choose what they want to do. To drink or not is their choice. So I choose no I don't think it should be banned I mean if the parents do want them seeing the ads then don't let them watch T.V. I personally would NOT care to see an ad or two on alcohol once in a while. The only channel's I would care if I saw them was the children's Channel meaning ABC, Disney Junior, Nick, or any channel's like that. On Grown Up channel's Who the Hell cares?!?!??!?!?!? I personally don't. Leave it be let people make their decisions! I mean there is ad's for Drugs and other Crap! So why not Alcohol, There are ads for RESPONSIBLE drinking you know that right!?!? So I personally don't care if the are there or not. I do believe they do attract under age drinkers, But it is their decision to do it.

  • Alcohol is Alcohol

People Shouldn't be banding Alcohol ads. If we are aloud to drink it then we should be able to have ads. I mean Yes, Kids may think morally on it , BUT it is their decision to drink it or to not drink it. So I will stand for NO.

  • No it shouldn't

It is the kids that may not like those beer and alcohol ads. It can also target youth through eighteen years old. Kids/ Youths probably will be more addicted to alcohol and beer and smoking. You also don't need ads to buy alcohol and beer. It says that on the website

  • Not they shouldnt be able to advertise on tv

I've seen my nieces and nephew watch toy commercials on the stupidest things and say "i want that" and then when they get in the store ask for it. Just like kids love juice and cant stand not to have it what do you think their gonna want next if they see flying bumble bees with bike helmets on in a liquor commercial. The cool-aid juice company has a talking jug of juice smiling and laughing, seems like fun to kids, so they want that to drink. Some parents drink in front of their children and leave a half of bottle of liquor sitting in front of them, what do you think their gonna do if they see mommy and daddy drinking whats on tv?
