  • Child soldiers should get prosecuted

The parents that lost someone because a child soldier killed him they will want them prosecuted. They will continuously force them to fight and they will get away with killing those people. Those kids should be prosecuted because no matter what if they got forced they stilled killed someone thats why they should be prosecuted

  • They just wanted drugs

I'm not the smartest person in the world but to me all the children wanted to get was the drugs but if they leave they cant get the drugs. So that is forcing all the children to stay at the base just too get high they have an addiction help them beat the addiction.

  • Yes, they need to be prosecuted

“Children are able to make decisions on their own. Many children choose to serve in the army. They believe in the cause of their nation and want to contribute to their national pride. These children had chosen their path. They have to be prosecuted for the choice that they had made.” This information suggests that children chose their path, aren’t turning back and should be prosecuted for that. For example, if a child has volunteered into becoming a soldier, they have “chosen their path” and have pride in what they do and need to be held accountable for that.

  • Argument # 1: If rescued child soldiers don’t learn from their actions, they will repeat the actions they executed in war.

Many children volunteer to become soldiers. Most out of patriotism or to attempt to avenge the death of their family members but being a soldier could also be a way to earn money. If a child has volunteered to be a soldier then they should be held accountable for their actions. It is wrong to say that all child soldiers are forced into fighting or that they had no control over their actions because many children are voluntarily in the front line of their armed group/military and are responsible for planning or ordering the crimes and human rights abuse that goes on within their group. These children knew exactly what they are doing and should not be excused from their actions simply because they are too young to take responsibility.

  • Here are three reasons why. WITH SUPPORTING EVIDENCE

Child Soldiers Shouldn’t Be Given Amnesty Because…

They Keep Committing Crimes Because We Do Give Them Amnesty
Debatewise.Org says, “Not prosecuting child soldiers may encourage commanders to use child soldiers to commit war crimes because they know there will be no consequences.”

Childsoldiersinvisiblechildren.Weebly.Com says, “if child soldiers are not prosecuted this could be an incentive for their commanders to delegate them to commit war crimes as they would know there are no consequences.”

They Are No Different Than Child Criminals
Debatewise.Org says, “Child soldiers have been responsible for some of the most brutal and violent acts in wartime… If a child can be convicted for murder under national law they should also be held responsible for international crimes. There should be no exception simply because the crimes occurred in wartime.”

www.Childsoldiersinternational.Org says, “However, when children are accused of committing crimes considered to be the most serious under international law, and where children have reached an age of criminal responsibility, then excluding them from criminal responsibility may deny justice to their victims and may also not be in the child’s own best interests. If a child is prosecuted, then he or she must be afforded all the guarantees and protection of international juvenile justice standards.”

Childsoldiersinvisiblechildren.Weebly.Com says, “many believe that child soldiers are mere replicas of child criminals; child criminals are prosecuted. Over the course of the past decades child soldiers have been responsible for some of the most brutal acts in wartime, such as rape, mutilation and mass killings of innocent civilians. Most domestic laws state that the age of criminal responsibility is much lower than 18 (child soldiers are generally considered children under the age of 18). If a child can be convicted for murder under these domestic laws there should be no exception for child soldier’s just because their crimes occurred in wartime.”

Some Children Knowingly Volunteer To Fight
From ‘The Child Soldier on Trial at Guantanamo’, “Kadir [child] had bragged about killing a U.S. soldier and he claimed the day he planted landmines to kill U.S. and coalition forces was the happiest day of his life.”

Debatewise.Org says, “Many children volunteer to become soldiers in wartime out of patriotism or a desire to avenge the death of their families. Being a soldier is also a way of earning money. If a child has volunteered to be a soldier then they should be held accountable for the acts they committed in this role. It is wrong to say that all child soldiers are forced into fighting or that they had no control over their actions… These children knew exactly what they were doing and should not be excused from their actions simply because they are thought to be too young to take responsibility.”

www.E-ir.Info says, “Berry (2003) found that boys in Afghan militias were fully aware of the risks of military recruitment.”

  • They should be prosecuted

I believe child soldiers should not get amnesty for their war crimes because commanders will keep getting more child soldiers to fight. If the children are not getting prosecuted their commanders will continue getting more child soldiers to fight in the war, because the children easily intimidated, and continue to use these children in terrible ways like mass murdering and rape. According to the article, “Child Soldiers”, “If child soldiers are not prosecuted this could be an incentive for their commanders to delegate them to commit war crimes as they would know there are no consequences.” To me this means that if child soldiers are not prosecuted, it will make their commanders make the children commit devastating war crimes like mass murder because there would be no consequences. Although most of these children have no choice but to fight, their commanders will make them do horrible things and capture more children if they are not prosecuted.

  • They must be prosecuted

Children are able to make decisions on their own. Many children choose to serve in the army. They believe in the cause of their nation and want to contribute to their national pride. These children had chosen their path. They have to be prosecuted for the choice that they had made.

  • Child soldiers should be prosecuted

Not prosecuting child soldiers may encourage commanders to use child soldiers to commit war crimes because they know there will be no consequences. International efforts to deter warring parties from committing atrocities require a clear and credible message to be sent: anyone involved in war crimes will face justice in future.

  • Old enough to rape means old enough to face punishment.

If a child is capable of raping and amputating victims then yes they should face prosecution because these acts of direct violence require physical capability. But killing, bombing and indirect violence must be investigated case by case. Even a 3 yr old can be told to press a button that can explode a bomb which kills hundreds, but if a 11 yr old commits a crime directly (ie maims someone) but also indirectly (ie sets off a bomb), they have enough awareness to know what they are doing and what the consequences are. As long as rebel leaders and kids know that they will face punishment regardless of age, the children will be less used as easy scapegoats for soldier leaders and other adult soldiers to escape justice entirely. In long term it will be better for the kids and the younger upcoming generation if they face punishment regardless of age.

  • Yes child soldeirs should be prosecuted

Child soldiers need to be prosecuted because they are just as bad as criminals. In addition to that they have commited attrocites far worse than murder some even include rape. Lastly prosecution might be the things that saves them. Prosectuons is a time to reflect on their mistakes aka rehibilitation

  • Read mine ok

Most child soldiers are kidnapped and drugged they also have no control over there actions during that time and are forced in to killing people I mean think about it if your whole family is dead and when you join the army with a slight chance of getting out would you take that or not?

  • Child Soldiers Should not be Prosicuted

Child Soldiers should not be prosecuted as the war general and his men or other children have their family's killed and some are taken and some feel that the government will protect tell as that is what they are taught, they then get back stabbed and are forced to kill. They are drugged and if they are not responding to what the warlords say or don't do something right, they are killed, some camps, one child soldier and week or so are killed each week for no reason. So if they are rescued, they are traumatized and need help more than anything, they stay in the transit camps till their parents are found, some parents are ashamed of what there child has done and wont take them, they need help and not prosecution. Thank you.

  • They should not be prosecuted

In most cases, child soldiers are kidnapped and forced to commit murder. It is not their decision to commit these crimes, it's the decision of warlords such as Joseph Kony, forcing these children to commit these acts. They are also drugged and have no control over their decisions. So no child soldiers should not be prosecuted for war crimes, because they are children and have no control over what they are doing.

  • No they shouldn't

The child soldiers in the middle east are forced to commit murder and treason. They are abducted at a young age and are raped, drugged, fed cocaine with gun powder (that is a true fact) and they are desensitized to violence. Would you kill to keep yourself from being tortured?

  • No no no

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no

  • Their still children we all must remember that.

These children have seen their family and friends shot mercilessly. So we have to suspect there will be psychological damage. This is something that will leave them scared for life. An yes their are some who chose to fight, to kill but they have no other option cause without a gun how will they protect themselves. They might not want to kill but everyone else is trying to kill them so they have no choice.

  • No, child soldier shouldn't be prosecuted for war crimes.

They were most likely forced into doing so, plus they don't really have much family to rely on because they are probably dead. These children are also drugged by their commanders with a drug called brown-brown, it's a mixture of gunpowder and cocaine. These children are very different from child criminals because the child criminals had choice and child soldiers don't have a choice. Either they kill OR get killed or tortured. These children shouldn't be prosecuted but be given some help and education. They might even still have nightmares of all these things. Children aren't really fully developed, they do what others do in this situation commanders.

  • Never! There children

First of all , many child soldiers are forced to join by the army because the army needs more people hello ! Second of all the army will give threats like we will come back and kill u or we will come back and kill your family witch will automatically scare the child and there's no choice but to join it third of all its mostly a life or death situation like for example if u see someone get shot because they didn't want to join the you'll get scared and say yes to save them selves

  • They're Just Kids!

Child Soldiers are forced to do what they do! It's not their fault they were taken from their families and had guns shoved in their face. These poor kids have been through enough trauma and sadness for a lifetime, there is no need for them to endure more. Give these kids a break.

  • No they should not

Child soldiers are little kids who don’t know they are doing. They are young and are heartbroken because their families were slaughtered or they were kidnapped from their beds during their sleep. While some may argue that child soldiers should be prosecuted , child soldiers should not be prosecuted because they were forced to become child soldiers and they had no idea what they were doing at the time.

Children were forced into becoming child soldiers. They were either taken away from homes or the kids went to the government looking for help and then they were forced into the government. “ Warlords are forcing children in conflicts around the world to become killing machines -- nothing more than what one child advocate calls ‘cannon fodder.’Some children are kidnapped from their schools or their beds, some are recruited after seeing their parents slaughtered, some may even choose to join the militias as their best hope for survival in war-torn countries from Colombia, and across Africa and the Middle East, to south Asia.” This is a quote from CNN News saying that kids get kidnapped from their beds or recruited after they see their parents slaughtered. The children have no choice and its not a good thing because after they are done with them they just kill them for no reason.

Most of the Child soldiers don’t even know what they were doing because they were 10 or younger. “The jihadists have also in the past released photos of 10-year-old children being trained to use assault rifles and kill people. ISIS has reportedly been using child soldiers in its many battles for territory across Iraq and Syria.” This is happening right now. ISIS’s terrorist group is training 10 year olds how to use guns and he is also training children as young as 5 in the their military

The reasons some people think that should be prosecuted is because some of the children are cold blooded and just want to kill to get payback for their families being slaughtered. “Child soldiers are ‘more obedient, do not question orders and are easier to manipulate than adult soldiers.’” Child soldiers are very easy to manipulate and if they are told that someone is the enemy and not to feel bad for them that they deserve it they will believe it and turn cold blooded.

In conclusion this is why Child soldiers should not be prosecuted. They are very easy to manipulate so they they believe anything they are told. So they were either forced to become child soldiers by manipulation or joined the military for payback because their family was slaughtered. Maybe some of the children will stop being so evil if they they get help to remember their families and the good times they had with them. Wouldn’t you think so if you were one of the child soldiers or the helpers?
