As long as the taxes are being given to the maintainers of the landfill for purposes of making sure the area doesn't contaminate and things are properly disposed of. It could help for recycling purposes too. We are already getting charged for having our trash taken, the city should be charged something also.
Councils should be charged a Landfill Tax by the government. When people put large amounts of waste in landfills, this waste needs to be properly maintained by someone. This costs money, and so the caretaker needs to be paid by all the smaller government that are creating the landfill, which is what a tax would do.
Councils should be charged a Landfill Tax by the government. Landfills cause a lot of destruction to both the area around them and to the water in the ground that leads to pollution. If they would take the tax money and use it towards recycling machines at landfills then a lot of the pollution can then be eliminated.
Would a landfill tax be present in order to allow councils to use landfills? Isn't garbage collection one of the basic responsibilities of a local government already? Why should the councils be taxed in order to perform duties that they are supposed to be performing, especially at a price that makes the people happy.
There's no reason that the government should implement a Landfill Tax against Councils. Doing so makes absolutely no sense and wouldn't raise much tax revenue for local or state governments. With that in mind, the government is better off implementing taxes in other areas of the community to maximize revenue.
