Should employees (management only) at work be allowed to carry a firearm?

Asked by: gabriela19
  • This is a bad idea

The employees shouldn't have the gun in their store. First of all, most of the employee or manager don't even have experience with a gun or know how to shoot the gun properly, this problem could lead to a serious injury or kill a person. In some situation, the manager or the sale person could have the license to use a gun but that will still be too dangerous if only a missing inch could kill a life, so the best way is a metal detector or just follow the rule and never rob a small grocery store in town.
    "JESUS"

  • Yes but only with proper training and background cheks.

If anyone did have a weapon at school i would feel safer especialy since i know 90% of the teachers personally and you could have extesive background cheks and they don't even have a chance at it if they have anger issues that they can't control. This would make me feel safer in school (and i am in 8th grade)

  • Absolutely they should.

    If they want to.

This needs to be an individual decision and should not be mandatory.

Just because I don't put a badge on for work, why do people assume that I have no idea how to use a firearm? I am not a police officer, but my brother is. I have just as much, if not more, training than he does. Why do anti-gun people always assume that police officers are the ONLY people that are trained with weapons?

  • Robbery by insider

They could attack the other employees at the store they work at and steal materials. For example if someone works at a company that produces a said object man uses the gun to control crowd while he steals the said product this is why I do not believe guns in these places are ok

  • Well why not?

There are already security guards that carry guns but not all stores have security guards so people need a way to stop robbers just look at videos of all the robberies stopped because the cashier or someone had a gun and threatened to are started shooting the criminal every time the criminal boots from the store like a bat out of hell

  • Fire arms are extremely an important form of self defense.

There are plenty of reasons that firearms are a good idea. Living in a country were we have plenty of surveillance there is no lack of sufficient evidence to prove one guilty or innocent in the case if an incident. This means that if there were a possible situation in which one was the victim of gun violence they would be able to see the shooter. Having guns readily available in case of emergency could prevent both death and the original crime. When one is aware of an increased danger of committing a particularly dangerous crime it already prevents the possibility of them committing the crime. Overall having guns readily available through management could save a large toll of lives and decrease the overall percent of violence throughout the United States.

  • It can cause HARM!!!!

Same as "allowing" teachers to carry guns at school, what if a robbery takes place and before you can reach the firearm the gunman gets it and shoots you, its not safe to have a gun on you, yes you want to protect yourself but you can harm yourself or someone else. The employee can have a mental health issue and shoot themselves or one of the employees, what if your child/sibling needs to go to work with you (at a restaurant) and they find the gun. Or a customer gets shot, there are very many reasons for this.

  • More Guns Does Not Equal Safer

You cannot assume that they will always be used with the best of intentions. On the robbery front, shooting someone over property is disgusting. Also, remember the retired cop in the movie theater who shot a man over a petty dispute? People are not responsible enough to carry such weapons around and having more around would do more harm than good.

  • It may affect the psychological mindset of the gun owner

Allowing the employees to carry the guns is a minor issue. But what it does eventually is a larger issue. It may affect their behavior eventually as gun is a tool to take someone's life and spreading negativity. So guns must only be allowed to persons whose job is to face such negativity(criminals, robbers, murderers) such as police, army , detectives etc. Letting a common man to pick up a gun is as dangerous as telling a 5 yo child to remain silent in a playground.

  • "Management Only" is problematic

The phrase "Management Only" in the prompt implies class warfare; specifically, it says that the employees won't be able to have weapons while the management should be able to. The management, therefore, will be able to defend themselves and the store, while the normal employees not. While having a firearm is a bigger duty, and should be vetted for sure, only allowing management to have firearms ensures class conflict and stratification
