A survey by the Telegraph has found that 75% of the British population support at least some degree of legalisation of Euthanasia/Assisted suicide. Further polls that can be found on the BBC website show that up to 80% support the motion that Doctors should be allowed to end the lives of terminally ill patients and that this has been present over the last 10 years. 60% support that Doctors should be allowed to prescribe drugs to allow a patient to end their life.
Morally speaking from a personal view point, I believe we should have a right to die should the quality of life drop to such a low level, only physical or mental pain is felt daily due to illness. Putting "down" an animal is permitted and therefore this be allowed for humans too. And for those who would argue that younger generations could effectively "kill" their older relatives, there are safeguards that could be put in place to prevent this. Such as a psychiatrist who could investigate into whether that person really does want to die.
Morality has changed and the people, including myself, believe that unnecessary suffering is an outdated concept. Most Britons want this, give it to us Parliament!
