  • Grade retention should be abolished.

This should be abolished because the students who get passed due to this policy get failed in the boards. They don't learnt anything in their previous classes, The got passed only in this support. The don't know simple things, When the teacher is teaching in the class and something that is taught in previous classes is repeated they are not able to answer, And so they disturb the other students too. These students should be failed if they are not capable for the next class otherwise there future will be effected and they will have to pay for it with their time and age. They will get depressed when they will see their classmates going ahead. They will not be able to give their 100%.
That's why this policy should be abolished.

  • They probably should be

If they are not retained. . . There base may weaken which will create a lot of problems in the future because i have seen a live example. A child may get insulted but what is more important. Is not your career and future that matters. We need to keep in ind that people are born to give taunts.

  • Absolutely it should

Students who were held back are more likely to drop out of school then their never retained counterparts (and grade retention is the #1 predictor of dropout), are more likely to have behavior problems, and are harmed by retention. Many countries prohibit grade retention and countries the best education systems believe all students can achieve the rigorous standards if the curricula is taught right.

Standards are supposed to drive curriculum. If the standards are realistically achievable for that age group and the teacher is teaching right, the student should be able to meet those standards, unless they have a disability as defined under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

  • Evidence Americans are idiots.

In British schools there is no such thing as grade retention no kid is held back. Let me guess, I bet some 60 year old adult could still be in elementary school. Its stupid and wrong. In Britain, we just do exams and then if we fail we just go to the next year. No you don't repeat the year, which is grade in your stupid schools. I bet kids in America hate school more than here.

  • No no no never

Students should not be retained because what if they tried their best but they got retained huh huh???? What if they get retained then they cant go to a better school ? What will happen when they get retained?
Oh well I don't know MAYBE THEY WELL GET FUN OFF!!!!! So this is why I think students should not be retained...

    yes they should
    don't deny the truth

  • Yes to retention

Retention policy support students a lot who are weak in academics but really want to improve . This will give those students a chance to prove themselves or to improve their scores in next class.
Although parents and teachers should show them the importance of studies so that they would fully devoted their time to studies

  • Student retention is helpful for many students

Being retained is often required as a "backup plan" for students in learning environments where all else has failed. Things like grade retention are necessary for some students who are having trouble keeping up in the classroom environment. With a lot of thought, grade retention is an option that schools need to keep open for the students who need it.

  • Student retention shouldn't be abolished

Students who are retained are not only given the tools to grow but they are also given the chance to get into a better school. When students are given the chance to repeat a grade it is like a second chance. A glimpse of home some may say. Colleges these days are very strict in looking in grades, if students are given the chance It will not only help them in current times but it will also help them in the future with getting a good job and having a full life.
