Should Italy leave the euro and revert to the lira?

Asked by: bblr922
  • The Italian economy could be boosted if Italy leaves the euro and readopts the lira as its currency.

Before the euro, Italy used the lira. It used devaluations to boost its exports and promote tourism. Now, in 2016, Italy is on the euro. Without devaluations, the Italian economy would collapse. Italy requires a devalued currency to boost its economy. Doing so would result in higher economic growth and inflation.
