Are educated enough to have an opinion on the topic. People who aren’t hiding behind outdated information. People who aren’t using a shield of religion to fuel their hate and the terrible things they say and do to others that would be a “sin” according to their priests that rape little boys. People that are compassionate and don’t force their child out of a home when they come out saying they are who they are and love who they love. It’s the education system that needs to change in order to create more accepting, Educated people.
By teaching children from a young age about these issues it will mean a more people who are educated enough to have an opinion on the topic.
I don't think it's against religion to teach about it. Teaching about LGBTQ will not harm anybody, DIFFERENT IS NORMAL! I don't think it's appropriate for kids to be walking around saying ''fag'' or ''you gay'' and thinking it's a ''JOKE'' these parents know what they be doin SMH
We teach students about straight people all the time. They are in stories, Family drawings, And sex ed. I believe that anywhere straight people are in the education system, LGBT people should be too. For example, Does it really matter if the main character's parents are gay or straight? No, Of course not. What does matter is letting students know that LGBT people exist and deserve respect. To those who say that LGBT topics are not "child friendly", Then I guess straight people are not "child friendly", And kids should never watch a Disney movie with a kiss at the end. Gay rights are a topic that should be talked about, And in the same way that black rights or women's rights are talked about. Students need to learn about other types of people, Especially if parents are not teaching them so. The school has a duty to teach, Not to filter through and only show what parents want their kids to see.
Yes: people miss school because of it. People are bullied due to lack of LGBT knowledge. LGBT people are more likely to have a mental disorder or commit suicide. So in a way, this could be a way of preventing suicide. LGBT is an important matter because everyone should be treated the same.
There are way too many incidents where lgbt+ people are in some form of danger because it is not deemed 'acceptable'. One of the main reasons for this is that there is an unclear image of what this actually is. Besides this, there are also homophobes, like many of the people who voted no. The vice president is in favor of having shock therapy, a process which teaches the person to literally hate EVERYTHING about themselves. It then builds them up to be a straight is person again. This causes emotional and physical harm to the victim. If people are taught about how bad this is, then it can be stopped. It can also help people who are LGBT+ to feel ok with themselves.
The LGBT community is a minority, yes, but it still needs to be taught in school. I once had to tell a classmate what LGBT stands for and they said, "Oh. So gays and lesbians." I had to explain that there is more. If people don't understand LGBT, then how are they going to react when they meet one? We are raising homophobics, even if they don't know. When someone doesn't understand LGBT, they come off kind of rude and homophobic. And the suicide rates are higher in the LGBT community; especially the transgenders. We are ruining society with suicide because of OTHER people not knowing and teaching the LGBT that they are nothing and a mistake.
The suicide, self harm and addiction rates are much hight among gay kids then kids who are not, and even more so among the trans community. It is literally dangerous to kids health not to teach them that they are okay and their existence in valid to combat these deadly trends.
Everyone in education at some point goes through sex-ed. With sex-ed we learn about the body parts, STD's et cetera. We also learn strait sex. To a school board that deems to be important. So what is so wrong with a little unit on LGBT, and how that works.
Even if their was a course strictly on LGBT, it won't be mandatory, therefore it won't effect people who don't support it. It will be there for people who want to learn. Simple as that.
LGBT Education should be part of the educational system because it not only would teach everyone acceptance it would also help ,those who identify as LGBT, accept themselves and know that they are not alone and that there are people out there who care and love them. If i had the opportunity to learn about LGBT in school i would of been out and more comfortable with myself. It also would of helped me know that i'm not alone. LGBT Education would be good to help stop hate and teach tolerance and acceptance.
No, LGBT education should not be provided for students through educational programs, because it is not something so worthy that we should spend educational time on LGBT issues. People who want LGBT taught in schools mostly only want it taught so that students can be brainwashed to accept gay marriage. Students can learn about LGBT issues on the internet.
There is no need to change the entire education system to teach about a very small minority of people. Gays have been taking a disproportionate amount of media attention for their cause. Gays should not discriminate against other people by forcing them to hear their history even if it doesn't apply to them.
There are many reasons why someone shouldn't be forced to learn about them. It is against many religions and forcing someone to take a class like this is unconstitutional. This would be doing nothing more then pushing the liberal agenda. I would never sit in a class being told my religion is wrong for thinking homosexuality is a sin. It is a pointless class that would only cause chaos.
School is about education and learning.
I see LGBT in this absolutely useless.
And not only that, Who is gonna find it useful in college?
And if it is gonna be in schools.
Let it be a choice,
So that way everyone gets a fair say and no one has to be forced
Why should we revamp an education system to push an agenda that most people do not agree with. It is not normal and goes against the laws of nature. Also those who support it often vilify those who oppose it or have religious views about it. We as the tax payers should have a say in it, Not what the progressives want. Little children should not be exposed to this either
LGBT, sexual intercourse, and sexual identity should not be taught through the educational system. I could see if the school system included LGBTQ+ into history, but that curriculum needs to be repaired until further notice. Also, it is not their place to educate students the subjects. There could be a class discussion on that may touch the subjects, but the first people who should be having these lessons/conversations with the students are the parents.
Schools need to teach how reproduction happens, not sex practices for LGBT kids (who are actually victims of a mental disorder). LGBT education would upset many parents who raise their children on proper orientation. All forms of LGBT "sex" are not sex; they are gross practices that have no function in nature and are actually unhealthy.
