  • Yes we should bruh

Because why not you need life with you food and your water also you need cake to live in life. Also because the USA is cool and I like the USA because it is big, nice and funny also because i like chickens and I like cows with monkeys. Booya

  • Yes, it creates beliefs and morals in individuals.

America is a nation founded off religion. As a people, the majority of our citizens call themselves Christian, so to have a fair government representative of the people religion is justly incorporated. Notice the word influence, not dictate; religious perspective must be considered at a federal level, but not decisive. Our religion adapts the general morals, and hence must be a factor in our government. As for other nations of more radical philosophies or perhaps less of a religious majority, religious influence is wiser if absent at a federal level.

  • How would you even be able to take religion fully out of government?

I don't understand how you could fully take religion out of government without degrading our government. The only way to fully take religion out of government is to only have people who do not believe in religion, because if you believe in a religion, your political views are going to reflect that of your religious beliefs. You cannot ask them to take that away.

  • Yes, we should.

It says in the 1st amendment of the United States Constitution that Congress shall not interfere with religion and let it be expressed freely. Religious practices make people happy to express themselves and if we take this away we will probably have a huge riot on our hands. Think of the millions of people who practice religion every day. Do we really want a riot like that on our hands? It will make a government crisis.

  • We are based on religion

If we are based on religion then why should we allow people to degrade that? Why should athiests or other people be allowed to sit there and tell us its not okay. If we didn't have religion we would be an atheist country with nor maorls or concepts of life. Why should we do that?

  • our government was based on religion to begin with.

The people who created our country to begin with fled England based on religious persecution. Our constitution is based of the morals provided from Christianity and the ten commandments. We have our perceptions of morals based off religion. In our pledge of allegiance "in God we trust" is stated because we base it off religion. And that same statement is printed on our currency. If we are to stay true to our country religion will always influence our government whether it is subconscious or not.

  • In America, yes

America is a nation founded off religion. As a people, the majority of our citizens call themselves Christian, so to have a fair government representative of the people religion is justly incorporated. Notice the word influence, not dictate; religious perspective must be considered at a federal level, but not decisive. • SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE

As stated in the Constitution, our government must maintain the Separation of Church and State. Religion makes it into politics far too often in this country. Also, there is no party for the non-religious at this point in time. Both the Democrats and the Republicans allow religion to guide them. As said earlier, we have the freedom OF and FROM religion.

  • Separation of church and State

"Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church and State."

    -Thomas Jefferson

Someone is forgetting the fact that America was founded on freedom of and freedom FROM religion.

  • Separation of Church and State

I don't feel that religion should influence government, nor do I feel that government should influence religion. They are independent from one another, and should remain so. Modern, secular governments succeed because they adopt this position, and there is religious precedent for it as well: "Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's," and such.

  • Religion kills

Religion has justified and spawned so much lunacy and destruction in this world. Look at history, any religious country is doing extremely bad. The arrogant certitude that is the hallmark of religion can only be bad for a country. Religious leaders would seer the ship of state not by a compass but by the equivalent of reading the entrails of a chicken. A divine power, certainty is something not worth having in a government. We need thinking people who would rule a country by what it needs and not by a fairy tale book

  • It has never worked

Every time it's tried people are killed and their rights have been taken away.

Just look at the Middle East, where Islam influences government. Every one of our cherished liberties would be destroyed and replaced with religious edicts. Free speech will be replaced with blasphemy laws, freedom of and from religion would be replaced with a state supported religion. Gays, and single mothers would be imprisoned, and Atheism would be outlawed.

Historically, religion and government must be kept separate as the founding fathers had envisioned or neither one will last long.

  • No, Its unfair

No. Because Religion is the devidement of different opinions. If its one opinion/religion then only the people that see that point of view will only like the government laws, And choices. Like if the president or king/queen was Muslim, They shouldent only have muslim rules and that is unfair to the citizens

  • Religion and government should stay seperate

The saying separation of church and state is my argument. If a religion has a something like a law they want, That might hurt another religion that has a totally separate view. That might hurt one religion but help another and that really isn't fair. This will create controversy and this causes catastrophe. Nobody wants that so religion should stay away from laws. But also don't forget some people don't have a religion or don't believe in anything so that might hurt them too. Just stay mindful of everybody. Maybe a religion starts to take over the government. Be mindful.

    -A Person Named Zach

  • People can be so stupid

We can't just let religion just take over our country because then there will only be christian people in a America and I thought that America was a free country and that if you are an other religion then they will just throw the other religions and atheists out of there country and this could be for any country.

  • Conservatives in congress

If conservatives support a ban on abortion and use the bible to justify their argument, it is clear they want big government to limit the rights and privileges of some and expand on others. All are created equal. Abortion is a family issue, not a national or societal issue. The time for conservatism is ending and the time for the future is here!!!!
