As for as science comunity is concerned science is only ruled and related with great minds and not with the political ideas we let you to understand the nature and its secrets so science should crossover the politics and its blind leaders if they cant accept it that it only because of science the talking and experiencing their good faith
The scientists should not defy Trump just for the sake of defiance. However they should defy him if he tries to stifle scientific evidence, put forth lies and debunked studies that fit his worldview, or in some other way make them break the ethical standards that all are required to follow then yes they should defy him.
Yes, scientists should defy Trump if their scientific beliefs are not in line with his edicts. Donald Trump should not be allowed to prevent scientific development and progress because he is not a scientist himself. That does not happen in a democracy such as the United States. The government does not control science.
Science is essentially a search for truth. Truth, and, as a result, science, is inherently objective. Scientists are therefore in the business of searching for this objective truth, and in order to do that they must remain objective and stick with what the science is actually saying. If there is a contradiction between science and Trump's views (such as, for example, on the issue of climate change), then scientists should of course point to the objective truth found through science. If scientific findings happen to align with Trump's views, then scientists should of course point to the objective truth found through science. It is when scientists abandon their objectivity and try to twist and misrepresent findings to suit a certain perspective or push a certain agenda that there are problems. "Change theories to suit facts, not facts to suit theories." Scientists should not seek to oppose Trump, but rather falsehoods and misinformation.
I dont think they should defy Trump because he is the president. When Obama was President, people who denied climate change had to defend themselves. There were people who wanted to put them in jail. There were people who launched social media campaigns against these people. Now, Trump is in power, and these people should follow him like they insisted others follow Obama.
While a president should never be blindly followed, Donald Trump is facing an unnecessary amount of resistance from the American people, mostly due to media influence. Scientists should not defy Trump without very good reason for doing so. They should instead look to work with him and come to compromises which will be acceptable to everyone.
Defying the directive from Trump may sound like a good idea, but in reality it will be a wrong move. The president of America has powers and when he gives a directive, it must be followed regardless of how odd it mat be. They should just comply as they try to solve the issues within government.
