It doesn't matter if the parent thinks that it will help them be more responsible, because thousands of teen-driving related deaths disproves that. Most 16 year-old brains have not fully developed and it doesn't matter how "mature" they seem, it is still very dangerous for a teenager of that age to be on the road.
The driving age should be at least 21 years old. Teenagers often drive to impress there friends. They drive fast over the speed limit to impress there friends. Plus teenagers text while driving, and cause a lot of damage. They also wake up in the morning really early to drive to school and cause a lot of INJURYS ON THE WAY. They don't really pay attention on the road as well as adults.
The driving age should be raised from 16 to 18. This would allow for more responsible drivers on our highways. I think most 16 year olds are not ready to be behind the wheel alone. If we raised the limit and required a diploma from high school then this would be best for everyone.
Teenagers, by virtue of their inexperience, cause a lot of accidents and have a high mortality rate in severe car accidents. Often times, teens don't wear seatbelts despite laws that require them to. There are too many distractions for young teens and driving doesn't have to be one of them. Texting teens make roads even more dangerous for all drivers. We need to wait until kids are more responsible before giving them the keys to the car.
We've all seen teenagers behind the wheel that look like they're going to kill somebody at any given time. It isn't out of malice, they simply aren't prepared enough to handle that responsibility. They should be made to wait until, generally speaking, they are mentally mature enough to handle driving.
The driving age needs to be raised from 16 to 18. Most of the accidents that occur while driving are due to teens texting while driving. I do not think 16 year olds are mature enough to drive and I know when I was 16 I was not a good driver at all. Its dangerous.

The driving age should NOT be raised The driving age should NOT be raised because if it is the older people cannot rely on their children or Grandchildren to drive them around. So they would have to drive and that causes more trouble because they crash easier as they get tired quicker. And the younger generation has more energy and stays awake longer.

It doesn't matter so much as the age of the driver it's more about their knowledge. Even if someone is thirteen, as long as they have the knowledge of how to drive they are perfectly fine. I'm thirteen an I know a lot about the rules of the road. So the driving limit of sixteen is perfectly fine the way it is.
We need to get jobs and do extra activities and if we are not able to do them, then we can not get better and we will have less opportunities to get jobs. And most people do not want to spend a whole lot of times in college for extra backup jobs
As I have previously stated, I think the driving age is fine being and staying at 16 years old. I feel 16 year old cans be mature enough to handle driving, and it will prepare them for their future jobs and being sure to get there at the required time.
Around the age of 16, a parent has to realize that their precious little baby child is becoming a man or a woman. It's time to put the training wheels of life on that kid by giving them a taste of grownup responsibility -- drivers licenses, and jobs to drive to. Raising the age to 18 doesn't help acclimate Junior to living in the real world on his own.
