Should the government fund housing for the homeless?

  • The government should fund housing for the homeless

Government funded housing for the homeless would provide safe places for the homeless to collect themselves and get the help they need to get their lives back together. It would also help keep them in a place they can get mental help services if they need it. Homeless people are almost always good people who need a helping hand.

  • Fundamental human rights

Everyone has a right to their roof over their heads. There is no excuse for homeless ever. The need to eradicate homelessness must win, Must always win. Even at the expense of the government. The government must always deal with the problem of homelessness as it is a social problem and they are always answerable to why people are out on the streets

  • Yes, They should.

The homeless, Especially veterans who fought for this country should have federal housing because if it weren't for them, We wouldn't have the peace of mind we have now. Those who are able to have a job should be helped to get a proper job and housing, Which they could pay little by little.

  • Yessssss they should help.

We are all humans and deserve a home. Many people served our country and we are very grateful for that. And not many homeless people give all of their mony to drugs and alcohol. There are also many sick home less people and also many children on the streets. So we need to help.

  • There are many homes out there

On an estimated answer there are about 1,000 houses that are made every 6 months. Most of those remain unoccupied, the US is in debt and not all of the people have the money that they need to support themselves, their family, the house, and the basic needs that an average citizen needs to survive. On average a regular citizen makes only $41,000 a year. Thats just for a 40 hour week wage. With the rate that it is going not many people are able to pay for the basics of what they need.

  • Sometimes it is out of someone's control through no fault of their own

Many times people become homeless due to no fault of their own for circumstances beyond their control. Examples include not having knowledge of or misinterpreting unemployment law leading to a denial of unemployment benefits after losing job, not being able to afford rent/housing on unemployment after being let go from job if live in a city where the cost of rent/housing is high, not having a supportive family who lets you live with them after losing job, having a health problem, medical condition, or mental illness that interferes with holding down a job, not having enough training/skills to hold down a job or find a high enough paying job to afford rent, being on a single income so can't afford rent (easier to afford housing on a dual income). The taxpayers and government definitely should fund housing for the homeless. The housing should include basic necessities such as drinking water, bathrooms, showers, beds, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Homeless people won't have the energy to find work if they are hungry or sick from having to sleep outside in the cold winter. They also will be too embarrassed to find work if they have nowhere to shower and if they don't have clean clothes for interviews. All humans, including those battling drug and alcohol addictions, deserve these basic needs regardless of the reason behind why they are homeless or unemployed. People are very sick while going through drug and alcohol withdrawal unable to work during this time. They also deserve basic necessities while trying to get over their drug and alcohol addictions while going through withdrawal.

  • Are you next?

Sometimes people make bad decisions and sometimes things happen through no fault of their own. It's a pitiful state of mind to not care to help or criticize or hold an innocent family at fault for things that can happen in life. A lot of people are just one paycheck from being in the same positon. Are you next and who do you ask for help if you are.
How do you justify this government giving away trillions of dollars yearly to foreign countries who could not care less of the well being of America, yet you scoff at the government helping it's own.

  • Not all homeless people are bad

Not all homeless people are bad, and you can be down on your luck for a while. They not only need a temporary home, but the homes aren't even that good. They should be pushed to find a job, but if you look like a homeless bum, who would hire you?

  • No no no

If the government were to support and pay for homeless people everyone would want to become homeless, Because of the free benefits. The government would eventually no long be able to support them and the area would have less money. There for homeless people must work for their own home.
