Yes, the US should expand their nuclear power, because it would send the correct message to enemies of the United States. If other nations know that if they use a nuke against the United States or a friend of the United States, that we have the capabilities to pay them back much worse. Nuclear strength is a way to achieve peace.
If you could harness nuclear power safely, you could harness a lot of clean energy to run cheaper and more effectively than standard forms of electricity. We need to make sure that we are doing it safely, but yes we should be expanding our usage of nuclear power for people.
Nuclear power will be an important part of the American power grid in the future. Although there are dangers to nuclear power, it is preferable to fossil fuel because it does not cause air pollution. Also, there are enough uranium reserves on Earth to last for a long time. Nuclear power is a good idea for the country.
The United States is a land with increasingly fewer fossil fuels and other natural resources to exploit. We need to move beyond the anti-nuclear hysteria that we've focused on thanks to Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima to understand that nuclear power is one of the safest and most reliable power generation schemes ever devised. We need it.
The time is now for the U.S. To increase their nuclear power just in case they would need to use it at some point in the very near future. With countries like North Korea and Iran trying to garner the ability to ascertain nuclear power, I think the U.S. Needs to be prepared with more nuclear power.
Nuclear power is a relatively safe, clean way to generate energy. It's much more safe than people think, and the ratio of harm to people relative to amount of nuclear power generated is actually quite low. However, if we are going to expand our nuclear power, we do need to be extremely careful.
If we are talking about energy-wise, we should invest in alternative sources of energy, instead of being dependent of nuclear power. Although nuclear power does provide lots of clean energy, it does pose a greater threat to the environment when trying to dispose the waste. Up to today we still do not know how to properly dispose the waste without involving burying it deep underground forever
Nuclear power could be a good source of energy, but I feel that using it is too risky. Even one nuclear power plant meltdown negates many of the positive benefits. It renders the land around it unusable for centuries. People exposed to radiation will get sick and can die excruciating deaths. Wildlife is affected. I don't think the risk is worth the benefit.
The U.S. can already nuke the entire world around 30 times over, or something ridiculous like that. Therefore, expanding our nuclear power at this point would be a complete waste of money. Considering the fact that the U.S. Government also doesn't even have money right now, it really wouldn't make since to expand our nuclear power.
There is no need to spend any more money on nuclear missiles/bombs. From what I understand, we already have enough to blow up more than half the world. Besides, the only scenario where we would actually fire one of these would be upon the basis of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). In that case, we would most likely all be gone anyways. So, let's save some money and stop where we are with nuclear power.
