I just saw a pie chart on the discretionary spending (optional spending) of the US and it says that we spent 54% on the military and 6% on education. The military is very important and we should continue to fund it well, however, I think we should take a small portion of that spending (5-10%) and put it towards education because this huge spending for the military is a little excessive.
I think schools should spend more money on education because, kids need the new topic they learned to stick. What other way then to go on the internet. Also fun tools to help understand the lesson for example Smart Boards the have many tools to help the teacher in many ways.I also think we should get more money to go on field trips to have a great experience with learning.

For the people who don't think money will help education, I know schools that have inadequate classrooms with no air conditioning. The money for education should go towards better school supplies and technology repairs. Tutoring for kids who need extra help would be much better for our society than more military spending.
I think that the government should spend money on education. I think this because many people will benefit from education. The same can be said for defense and medical research but look at it this way. Our next generation will not improve without education we will have no defense because people don’t know how or why they should defend their government and country. There will be no medical research because people will not know basic math much less chemistry and calculus. In this developing world we need education.
I am currently in 7th grade in America. I have straight A's and do all my assignments, However, we had several kids from China come here and we both took the same test. (Also they were taught English, we are not taught anything!) The beat litteraly everyone but me and 2 others. The class was shocked but seemed to care little. It wasnt just our class. Close to every class got beat by the Chinese kids. Also, hearing the government is spending on other things that are unneeded is scary. I agree that they should.
Spending more money on education makes those kids learn. Education makes us do math, history, and science and so on- so when they are in college, they can do whatever they want to do. Without education, how can they accomplish that? Education is so important. Some people are poor, and they can't read or write. This is clear that WE NEED TO SPEND MORE MONEY ON EDUCATION!
The United States should be spending a lot more on education. The list of things that are more important than education is very small. It is pathetic when you hear about schools not having enough funding to provide for students. We really need to get our act together and do what is right.
Take a look at the GDP of the United States and how money is spent. Even a small percentage of decrease in military spending being switched to education spending would vastly increase the funding our schools get. Going to college is overwhelmingly expensive in this country and many public schools are vastly under funded.

No, the U.S. should not spend more on education, because there is no link between education spending and the achievement of students. Without competition, the public schools have no incentive to improve their quality. They only demand more money. Spending alone does not make things better, it only makes them cost more.
Instead of the U.S. spending more on education, maybe they should give people a greater choice when they are deciding on their children's education. We pay so much in taxes that goes toward education, when that money could be going towards private schooling or homeschooling if the parent chose such. Parents should be he ones making educational choices for their children, or making choices about the own schooling, and leave the government out of it.
