The United States Government should be allowed to collect and store cellular information and data of US citizens that are known to be involved in illegal criminal activity. Under current federal law the collection of this meta data is legal without obtaining a search warrant or the oversight any federal court.
Yes, the government should be allowed to collect and store any data that is taken through cell phone usage by United States Citizens that are known to be involved in criminal activity. This is a tell tell sign that you may be involved in other illegal actions and you may need to be monitored. If you do not wish for someone to hear what you are saying you may not want to say it on the cell phone
When the twin towers were attacked on 9/11, the government immediately cracked down. In reality, the government doesn't care about your personnel business, they just care whether or not you plan to blow up a building. Unless you want more mass shootings or killings, i see no reason that anyone should object to this.
1. Inside threats (shootings, Blowing up stuff, Spies, Etc) are hidden amongst the citizen population.
2. Which is more important? Privacy or safety? If your office building is being blown up are you going to be worrying about your Instagram photos or that one call you made to ask your roommate to take out the trash?
3. If you're not doing anything illegal, You have nothing to fear.
Its not fair, how would the government like it if we looked at their personal info also but yet we don't. Our privacy is ours such as their privacy is theirs and the reason they mostly want that info is to sell us products or control us because then they know what we like and they use that against us.
I am working in business that also has to handle personal data. An dit is highly regulated area. So why is it that NASA doesn't have any regulation on how they collect and handle these data. There is a vast variety of tools how data can be captured and scanned without being actually collected. That is absolutely sufficient to fight any terrorists.
I do not believe that it would be right for the government to collect data from cell phones on everyday citizens if said individuals have never been known to be involved in any criminal activity. I think that such a thing would give the government too much power and can be dangerous.
I think the Government should only be collecting information on people who they have reasonable suspicion are involved in terrorists or criminal activities, I think it's a deep invasion of citizens rights and freedoms when the Government is collecting information on you without any reason to believe your doing anything wrong.
No, the U.S. Government should not be allowed to collect and store data on cell phone usage by U.S. Citizens who are not known to be involved in criminal activity, because they can use that information in the aggregate against Americans. Even Americans who individually aren't doing anything interesting should have the right not to be followed as a group by the government.
Would like to make a reference to a movie Minority Report. If you watched that movie, you know what predictions can lead to.
In connection to collection of data from cell phones, i am pretty sure it will lead to the same. First, the government will collect the data, then will analyse it, will compare to criminal profiles... And will try to neutralise the threat before it even appeared.
