Alexia is derrivative of word dyslexia and in pyscologist dictionary states alexia-inability to read written or printed words. Social media has made all its users totally mind numb zombies. In the future our kids won't be able to think for them self or do anything without computer telling them, Suicide is up in our kids due to online bullying, As adults over 30 we all can recall better times, Times when we knocked on a freinds door to come out now our kids slap on a vr head set and dso what they like. As adults we have to answer to god for these crimes, "who gives any of his children to Molech shall surely be put to death"-Leviticus 20:1-27 or mathew 18;16 But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, It would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
I learned long ago that a wise man is not afraid to see every side of an issue. When talking with someone about current news it easily becomes evident whose lemonade they are drinking ( Guyana reference ).
Only rooting for your team or heroes is a natural event.
What a person chooses becomes their master.
You watch one video and it is not funny enough so you keep scrolling to see if the next videos will be funnier. You finally find that one video and you are laughing so hard, But you need to keep on scrolling to see if there will be another funny one. Next thing you know you are on social media for 5 hours. Yes it is other's responsibility to limit themselves but it is a crisis, And if you cut social media out of your life you are essentially cutting yourself off from the world around you.
When people are into a new trend, Don't you feel the desire to join in? When all your friends exclude you from something fun don't you feel hurt? This is called FOMO (fear of missing out). Our society is intertwined with social media to a substantial extent. So much so that people who don't participate in social media feel pressured to do so. Our culture glamorizes spending hours a day wasting your time on social media. In this sense we are constantly being pressured into social media. Like smoking cigarettes, People are constantly being pressured into social media by their friends, Cousins, Classmates, Neighbors etc. Once you start social media, It is hard to stop like an addictive substance. Yes, It is up to the person to get help, But that is an immense amount of courage to ask for the help of someone. Addtionally, If you are able to stop you are constantly surrounded by people who partake in social media. Every time you see someone doing social media it is constant reminder of what you're missing out on.
When someone scares you and you shout is that voluntary or involuntary? Your brain automatically make decisions for you every single day, Whether it is good or bad. If you touch your hand to a stove your hand will automatically pull away before you have time to process. That reaction is involuntary. The big social media companies have scientist working 24/7 to ensure that social media apps are the most addicting they can possibly be. When you watch videos that appeal to your interests you are truly engaged. Scientists know that and use this information negatively. When you watch videos on social media they track your information (which of course they sell to more companies than you can count) but they also use it so that if you want to pull away from social media, They will look at your history and predict what will captivate your interest. So in reality, They are taking advantage of how your brain was designed. Some people believe that social media is not a slave. After all people have a free will, But scientists take advantage of your brain so they are inhibiting your ability to have self control.
The apps are very hard to leave because of the friends you meet online and you invest so much emotion into them instead of your real friends and it makes you want to talk to them all day long where you just have to be by your phone all day long just to wait for them. The like button and the dislike button trigger dopamine in the brain to make you stay there, It’s addicting as hell. Ending friendships do not end well, It’s just awfully addicting
If you are addicted to social media wouldn't it be your own responsibility to have the self control to pull away from social media? The reason why people say that social media is mental slavery is because they frankly don't have the willpower to pull away. People say that they want to stop social media, But do they really? When people say they "tried" to stop social media the reason that they are still addicted to social media is because they honestly deep down truly don't want to stop social media.
Only saying no because i'm Neutral.
I mean in a way it kind of is because it does have things to make you constantly stay on there and it is easy to just stay on there scrolling social media posts and it is pretty hard to ditch but in the end the main problem is a responsibility problem, Not a social media problem.
Im sorry to be this blunt, But it's an addiction like any other. If you have problems leaving it, You either haven't tried hard enough or you aren't strong enough to leave. If you want to you can stop, Its not mental slavery in any form. It's sad that people are addicted to things that cause more harm than good, Instead of being addicted to positive things.
Everyone is responsible for their own life whether they like it or not. If they are addicted to social media it is up to them whether or not they will stop. If people were forced to do social media it would indeed be a mental slavery but that is not the case.
Social media is not a mental slavery because people have the right to choose whether or not to participate in the first place. When people are addicted to social media is it really the makers of the social media companies' fault or is it your own? When participating in social media you are making a choice of your own free will. In a bar, They say drink responsibly, This same rule applies to social media. It is up to you whether or not you want to remain a slave to social media. It would be ignorant to call social media a slave when the fault is really your own.
