Solar energy: Are the environmental issues with the batteries used acceptable?

We need to be implementing this in our infrastructure now to prepare for the times ahead that are going to come.

Although the use of these batteries for solar energy can cause some problems, there are many benefits to solar energy, and it is one of the cleanest energies available. For this reason, solar energy is to be encouraged, despite environmental issues with the batteries.
