STV or FPP for BC: Is the expected change in party politics beneficial to British Columbians?

  • STV is the only sensible option

STV is the electoral reform that should be implemented within both US and Canadian elections, for the legislative elections anyway. British Columbia should adopt STV to break the rigid two-party rule that so poisons their political atmosphere. STV or some other form of proportional representation is the only way to have a truly fair and free democracy.

  • No, the new system confuses voters.

No, the expected change in party politics is not beneficial to British Columbians, because the new system is confusing. Voters do not know how their vote will count, and perhaps they think they will be misled or cheated in the new system. The old system, in which the person who gets the most votes wins, is easy to understand.
