The great Gatsby should be taught in schools to show what people have banned over the years and for what reasons

  • Last time I checked it already was.

I'm 100% sure I had to read it in high school, But regardless it barely touches on the topic you mentioned. At most there are a handful of throwaway lines about prohibition itself and it frames the story but it's really more about the issues with modern (for the time) American cultural values and why you shouldn't single-mindedly obsess over things.

  • This was banned, But why?

The great Gatsby should be taught in all high schools to show what people have banned during our history and why they banned it, It could also branch out students perception of things and teach them about other religions. We could also teach them other books too, This should take place in history lessons.
