Trophy Hunting is good for endangered species

  • Trophy hunting is the lifeblood for conservation and people's livelihoods

If trophy hunting is done right, then yes. Many undeveloped regions don't have the luxuries or privileges the rest of the world has. There are a number of catches that make it beneficial. Most are older males who don't breed anymore and other are past their prime. Banning hunting will cause local people and governments to lose a valuable source of income and there will be no desire to protect the animals putting all species and each individual animal at risk for poaching. Local folk eat the meat and utilize the rest of the animal so little to none goes to waste. Some places like South Africa that have thriving populations thanks to well managed controlled hunting.
Banning practices can make the opposite happen or create new problems like how banning booze strengthened the mafia and drug use went up after the banning. Hunting preserves places and keeps wild places wild. Developed nations like the U.S and Canada have suck protocols and practices in place.

  • It is good

Trophy hunting can actually help the ecosystem if done right. First, trophy hunting can create conservation incentives in places where ecotourism isn't viable because it's economically unfeasible or too remote. Second, it helps controll the population of species. Let say that we stop trophy hunting or just hunting in genral, then a preditor goes exinct a few months later, it’s prey gets over populated and then they’ll eat all the food and we’ll starve. Third, if a animal goes cazy and becomes a threat to the life around him or her, including us, we’ll have to shoot it or it will just keep killing, puls that means it will have a bounty on it.

  • We don't really have a choice

Animal Conservations need some sort of funding to stay in place, and trophy hunting ends up to be the main contributor. Sure, a few animals are going to die for it, but at least it protects the rest of the population from poachers and habitat loss, which are the major causes of animal extinction.

  • Unfortunately I have to agree

Although I wish that this wasn't the case, the money ( which is a lot ) that a trophy hunter pays to hunt for the desired species goes into conserving habitat and populations of the animal. Although i really hate the fact that someone would want I hunt an endangered or exotic animal for fun it is proven that the large sums of money given to the cause does Benoit the species.

  • But why not

It could lead to disaster but like i said I am for trophy hunting. It is all about that money. That is how some people get money to get though life. So why to we not to do trophy hunting? It might be a very good idea, or it could.

  • Trophy hunting has kills of to many animals

Their are about 105,000 animals killed and imported to the U.S. This includes 600 elephants and 800 leopards. At a time when every lone person is crucial to the survival of the species. Their is no way that this could really help endangered animals other than that it might give them a smaller chance of death but they will probably be killed by a trophy hunter anyway.

  • Illogical and unethical

The premise makes no sense: I pay you so I can kill one of X, but the rest of X will (supposedly) receive more funding for their survival. Imagine applying that logic to, e.G., poor populations of people. There are much better conservation strategies. Fighting corruption in Zimbabwe and Zambia for example would go much further towards making sure wildlife conservation received sufficient resources.

  • It may be good for endangered species but...

Many non-endangered animals are being hunted as trophies without much pay and it is not really right in the first place to kill an animal for their look or skin and i know that many people do donate the other parts to a charity but many different people just leave the useful material for nothing.

  • Trophy hunting is HORRIBLE!!

Why would you kill an animal who is endangered? There is no good reason to. Their kind of species is almost dead and you go along and kill it, which make there kind one more closer to extinction. It is exactly like killing a human then just leaving them there to rot, and doing it just for fun.
