UN Convention on the Rights of Migrant Workers and their Families: Does treaty strengthen migrant human rights?

  • Yes, It Does Strengthen Rights

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Migrant Workers and their Families is a useful tool to ensure that people's fundamental human rights are being met. However, it is not enough. This is just a starting point, and these policies need to be vigorously enforced all across the world.

  • No. The treaty doesn't assist migrant workers.

No. The UN convention on the right of migrant workers was attempting to assist migrant workers with creation of the treaty, however this treaty will not assist migrant workers like they thought it would. Migrant workers come into the country to work. Although this is obvious, the UN is missing the unknown facts and unwritten reasons that migrant workers come into the country. Once the UN imposes guidelines, there will undoubtedly be side effects that they did not account for. A treaty such as this one rarely assists the people as it was originally intended.
