Wal-Mart is sending a message that it cares about these issues by adding insurance coverage for people in this community.

Walmart takes lots of steps to care about its employees.
I believe that the fact that Walmart is adding insurance coverage for transgender employees shows an equality which is very important in a modern society. It shows that the company is moving with the times, and is catering for the wide range of genders and identities displayed in such a diverse employee pool.

All big companies lack a heart, even those that pretend they have one like Apple and Google. Truthfully once the big corporations get so big the heart dies. Wal-Mart is no different, that doesn't mean the insurance coverage isn't welcome, obviously it is a good thing. However one good thing doesn't suddenly mean they have a heart.
