That is how we punish people we do not like and actions we do not like. We blame people who are no more of a problem than anyone else. In order to get people out of our country, we say they are being a bad influence on the rest of society. The problem usually is we are really the bad influences on them.

No, the prohibition did not have anything to do with hatred over immigrants. This only occurred because the government felt like the nation would be better off without the sale and use of alcohol. The country felt differently though, and the sale of alcohol continued in illegal types of ways.
