  • They lost and they needed to pay

The goal was to disarm and to pacify Germany and make them pay for damages they done.
Some say that because of this the Nazi came into power.
It does not matter if it did or not because Germany was de fanged and it just shows that racists will always lose.
They lost the civil war and they lost in WW2. And usually racist people end up paying in the end.

  • 'Fair', Can only be interpreted in the First Person

. . . So, Look at Holocaust statistics, As well as all those of Allied dead. These, Are a direct consequence of Versailles. Germany, Post-Kaiser Wilhelm, Was squashed into the earth, And humiliated. And from this, Rose a dragon. And the dragon raged a dozen years, Throughout the world. Every drop of blood it spilled, Flowed first from Versailles. Without Versailles, There was no need or impetus for revenge.

Those living today, Teuton or otherwise, Cannot judge. Only those in the First Person, E. G. "Versailles did 'this' to me/mine/my people. " The German soul, Ever understood zero sum. If the rise and result of Hitler is made only that, The German people, Even in 1945, Would salute it. "Only the defeat of our arms has caused us to turn away from him. Not reason, " said Syberberg.

Fair? Yes. It put a bullet into a defeated nation. This nation returned, And put a cannonade, Into its foes.

  • The Entente wanted to eliminate a threat

The German Empire didn't start the war. They were dragged into it like everyone else was to honor their alliances. It's no secret that the French and the British Empire were afraid of Germany and their military might, And they had been for sometime. They even had a history of quarreling with one another so their fears were rightly placed.

To be brief, The treaty was a way make back some of the colossal amounts of money that was spent on the war and eliminate a threat to their sovereignty (at least for 20 years). The treaty effectively gutted the German Empire.

  • Germany was not the only one at fault.

Germany was the main scapegoat of the war as mostly everyone blamed Germany. The Allies were looking for someone to hold responsible for and decided to make Germany suffer the most. This only fueled Germany's rage (which led to WW2). Everyone was blinded by the victory of the Allies that they did not realise that there was tension in Europe between the Great Powers and that the Allies themselves were also to blame for the first world war.
