  • Singularity seems like a plausible theorm.

There are many people who believe the Earth was made less than twenty thousand years ago and are very creationist in their thinking. However, scientists who have studies the creation of the Universe have discovered very interesting and likely accurate ways in which our universe was created. The singularity is one of those concepts. It's still hotly contested, but I believe this is probably closer to being right than creationists.

  • Not scientifically needed.

Quantum mechanics takes away the need for a Big Bang singularity. Furthermore, a Big Bang singularity is an impossible state, considering that everything inside it (temperature, density) would have to be represented by some number over zero, which is mathematically impermissible. Also, if you extrapolate inflation backwards, you never get to a T=0 state.
