Web 20: Is anonymity, which is fairly common in the Web 2.0 a bad thing?

  • No responses have been submitted.
  • Anonymity is not bad.

It is more safe for a person to be able to remain anonymous. If someone has access to that person's full name it would be pretty easy for them to track them down if they wanted to. People often get very enraged over another person's point of view on the web. For safety anonymity is best.

  • Anonymity is a right

Anonymity on the internet and World Wide Web these days is a necessary guarantee of our individual rights. Due to the massive espionage by both world governments and corporations on individual citizens, the only sure way to be able to have both privacy and to exercise your right to freedom of speech and right to petition authorities for a redress of grievances is to have a guarantee of the right to anonymity on the internet.
