Who Owns the Land? Europeans or Native-Americans?

  • Right of Conquest

The bloody primitives had the land, and they were subject to widespread deforestation due to unchecked wildfires. Then we came along and took it. Ergo, it's ours now. Enjoy your smallpox. (And do we ever love syphilis) Then they were properly civilized, as per out God-given mandate to seek out and civilize those unlucky enough to not be us. There was some disagreement on that topic, but we won through superior firepower.
Tl;dr It was theirs, but now it's ours.

  • Ownership of land changes with time

If your evidence is that the "Native Americans were there first", then every single nation on the planet doesn't own the land they live on. Conquest, migration, extinction and recolonization, and even ethnic diversifying all change who owns certain parts of the planet. The European nations conquered the land from the Native Americans, who then lost the land to rebellions and revolutions. Now countless nations in the American continents have ownership of the land within their nations borders. So the correct answer is, neither Europeans or Native Americans own the land (except for the indian reservations. Their is always an exception).

  • Europeans own the land.

    Europeans own the land because they think that if you own land then you are very wealthy. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . .

  • Speaking as a Native American...

A territory war was fought, and the natives lost that war. Welcome to the real world. It sucks.

More to the point, Europeans don't own this continent either. The continent belongs to the elected federal governments of the United States and Canada. And Native Americans are the natural born citizens of those countries.

  • The Native Americans

I think the Native Americans owned the land.
First off they were here first.
Second we fought for our victory and we clearly won the war.
Third the Europeans would have made our rules and signed The Declaration.
Last but not least, THEY AREN'T HERE, to control over the land.

  • Native Americans own the land.

Before the Europeans/The Spanish Conquistadors explored the Americas (not founded the Americas) the Native Americans lived here before Europeans came, the Native was doing real fine until Europeans came and killed off almost half of there population (SLAVERY/DISEASES) so therefore land belong to the NATIVE AMERICANS. So they lives and made the land what it is know (nourishment's) Also Christopher Columbus is not form EUROPE he is from SPAIN!!!! This land mainly belongs to the NATIVE AMERICANS!!!!!

  • First Nations were here first-ish

Disclaimer: The First Nations (Native Americans) did not claim ownership to the land, they were caretakers (please correct me if I worded that wrong).

The First Nations people came to North America around 10,000 years ago, I believe. Much much earlier than even Leif Erikson who didn't stick it out. It gets stranger when you hear about Natives' legends about red-haired giants who were contemporaneous and may have predated the First Nations people that we know today (whom the Natives said they slaughtered due to them being carnivores).

Neither answer suffices. Whoever is a citizen of the United States has a right to live in the United States.
