There's actually a logical answer to this, but it's kind of a cheat. Basically it's that the initial premise is impossible, and that a barber with those exclusive properties cannot exist, so the problem is void.

No, it couldn't exist. Whatever he does, he makes an exception to the rule. There is no law or property of the universe making him carry out his rule, so the rule is arbitrary and breakable.
