Are Christians being bigoted or persecuted for their beliefs in the U.S?

Posted by: applestoapples

By persecuted I mean for, being pro-straight marriage, being pro-life ext. For example, a Christian baker was given a law suit for not catering to a gay wedding. Also, Christians are being called anti-women for being pro-life.

  • Christians are being bigoted and persecuted for their beliefs in the U.S

  • Christians are not being persecuted for their beliefs in the U.S

  • Aside from some cases, no

  • Nope. The gays are.

  • Christians in the United States are being bigoted and hiding their bigotry behind their religion. They are not being persecuted, they use their religion to persecute others.

  • Not overall no. A few people can be d*cks to religious people in general but overall Christians actually have all the power.

  • MAJORITY OF THE US IS CHRISTIAN, obviously they aren't being persecuted when most people in this country believe. Atheists are the one being persecuted.

  • Definitely not. Christians make up more than 75% of the population.

  • I feel free.

  • The only people claiming to be persecuted are the politically motivated faux Christians of the social conservative movement. Basically it is an attempt to make their bigotry an accepted social view. Jesus would not promote the kind of hatred and persecution that these people envision as being norm. These same people in 10 yrs time will become so radical and ostracized from our society, they will become the other radical religious terrorist.

  • I believe that Christians are being persecuted, but i also believe that it should happen. God says in revelations that the Christians will be persecuted...but revelations is not the only place its been said. Christians have been persecuted ever since Moses led the slaves out of Egypt. revelations says that in the ending days, the Christians will be persecuted its not anyone fault..its prophecy. (sorry my thought are never organized)

Not as much in the U.S., but around the world, a lot more so.

Christians need to stop forcing their religion on other people. If they are anti-gay, so be it, but don't use your religion to persecute gay people. If they are anti-abortion, so be it, but don't use your religion to dictate legislation and strip women of their choice to get an abortion if they want.

Yes, let's generalize everyone.

Brian seems to be ignoring much of what I have been saying on another page. Christians are facing persecution in the western world, but not nearly as much as the rest of the planet.

Your answers are a bit of a mess, but Christians are being bigoted - not persecuted for their beliefs.

@Tonius5 - And what of it? Different groups are persecuted throughout the world. Christians are among the lest "persecuted" worldwide.

Christians are the ones that are being bigots...

Coptic Christians and in other parts of the world. In the US Christians as a group are not persecuted. Ever. It just doesnt happen.

@briantheliberal, I agree with you on gay marriage, but I think the reason that so many people are against abortion is because it does kill a baby. I don't think that's a religious thing. Maybe Christianity backs up protecting life, but that's obviously correlation not causation is it not?
retrogamer176 says2015-04-04T22:25:38.9978748-05:00
@texas the bible is pro abortion.
Texas14 says2015-04-04T22:34:19.6256000-05:00
Please tell me the quote where it is for abortion. I can't seem to find it. I can find numerous quotes that say life is precious and killing is wrong.

That quote is insufficient evidence to support pro choice. Science actually says that life begins at conception. I'm very pro religion, but I don't see how we should base our laws off of it.

Even if that quote is taken literally (which it shouldn't be because many other passages aren't supposed to be) it doesn't mean that the message of precious life in the Bible is discarded.
retrogamer176 says2015-04-04T22:56:39.4653890-05:00
How about when god flooded the world? Isn't ALL life precious?
retrogamer176 says2015-04-04T22:58:57.6329336-05:00
@texas14 also, the entire bible is meant to be taken literally. The parts with interpretation came from pastors who wanted to hide the wrathful god.
Texas14 says2015-04-04T23:20:26.4979950-05:00
If all of the Bible is meant to be literal, then why don't Christians kill their neighbors for working on Sundays?
retrogamer176 says2015-04-04T23:27:33.3245436-05:00
@texas14 because it's illegal.
retrogamer176 says2015-04-04T23:27:40.3925249-05:00
@texas14 because it's illegal.
Texas14 says2015-04-04T23:29:47.4061356-05:00
Yes, but killing is also illegal in middle eastern countries, yet radical Islam groups kill people.
retrogamer176 says2015-04-04T23:46:19.5690154-05:00
@texas The USA is not a christian nation.
