The Keystone XL pipeline is one example of the inherent backwardness of the environmental movement. The oil in Canada IS coming out of the ground and IS going to be burned, the question is who will receive the economic benefit? Whether it is piped down to the U.S. or shipped to Asia is only a question of cost, for both parties. The U.S. is in need of oil, environmentalists tell us that we only get oil from the middle east and that is a big problem. Why do you think that is? Are oil prices on the rise (in the last decade) because of low supply, or because of low production? Environmental groups weed their way into the energy industry and raise prices, then they criticize the results.
