  • I don't think I am. I try not to be. You really can't make generalizations like this very well.

  • It all depends on the individual Christian..

  • Being a Christian, or any faith, doesn't make a person perfect. Being a non-believer doesn't, either. And both can be hypocrites!

  • Christians make up 33% of the world population (http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html) It would be hard to generalize for such a diverse group. Since Christianity teaches that we are all sinners in need of forgiveness, it would be hard to focus on this teaching and be considered a hypocrite.

Most religious people are hypocrites, not just Christians.

If you look at the poll choices, by this it reads "Pro-War, Pro-Life & Pro-Death Penalty" but it also says "Hypocrite". When Scripture supports the position, you cannot say a Christian is a hypocrite. They are merely practicing what their faith teaches.

Which verse is it where they talk about the magical abortion recipe
SweetTea says2014-07-22T09:05:37.5729145-05:00
Discomfiting ... I have no idea what you are talking about. However, long before Roe v. Wade, abortions happened in a variety of ways.

Discomfiting:It talked about how the women drinks the poison water, etc something like that. SweetTea: what the bible teaches is unmoral for the modern world.

:) I found it! Numbers: 5:15-22 .....Then he is to take his wife to the priest. He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah of barley flour on her behalf. He must not pour oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder offering to draw attention to guilt. The priest shall bring her and have her stand before the LORD. Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water. After the priest has had the woman stand before the LORD, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse. Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, "If no other man has slept with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you. But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have defiled yourself by sleeping with a man other than your husband"-- here the priest is to put the woman under this curse of the oath--"may the LORD cause your people to curse and denounce you when he causes your thigh to waste away and your abdomen to swell. May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells and your thigh wastes away. " " 'Then the woman is to say, "Amen. So be it."

Interesting verse, but water (even dirty) won't cause a miscarriage. If it did, there would be far less populations in Third World countries.

To further complicate matters, the Book of Numbers had multiple authors. Moses is believed to have written part of it (as well as 4 other books).

Reece, I didn't comment on that poll. You must have been thinking of another that got buried in my 13 notifications.
SweetTea says2014-07-22T09:29:47.3012441-05:00
Numbers is part of the Jewish Torah (first 5 books of the Christian Bible). So any verse in those books is as much about the Jewish faith as it is Christianity. Http://www.Easyenglish.Info/bible-commentary/numbers-lbw.Htm

So in conclusion guys, atheists infinity and theists 0
SweetTea says2014-07-22T09:45:52.1136394-05:00
Reece ... So, you are anti-war & your parents have a military background (according to your profile). Do you feel your parents are anti-peace because of their military background? Or do you think it is possible to serve in the military & still be supportive of peace?
SweetTea says2014-07-22T09:51:59.4474216-05:00
Reece ... By the way, hon, your score-card is sorely off. You see it as "So in conclusion guys, atheists infinity and theists 0". Yet, there has been no proof on your part. I will give discomfiting an "E" for effort, though he couldn't even explain his choice of research. I don't profess to be an authority on Divinity, but I'm certainly not expecting atheists to be either. You would have to study, know and believe to fully appreciate or attempt to translate ANY religion.

@SweetTea NewZealand isn't a war driven country btw.Yes i do believe that.
reece says2014-07-22T09:56:57.0021136-05:00
I was joking about the score ;)
SweetTea says2014-07-22T09:57:04.4684302-05:00
Reece ... You believe what? That your parents are capable of being pro-peace? That they are anti-peace? We aren't discussing New Zealand, hon. We are discussing people & their beliefs.
reece says2014-07-22T10:01:26.2265674-05:00
I know we're talking about people and their beliefs, what i said was just something extra. Yes i do believe that :)
reece says2014-07-22T10:02:50.1873820-05:00
That their pro-peace. So carry on ;)
SweetTea says2014-07-22T10:03:48.7768595-05:00
Reece ... And why are you anti-War? Is it because you truly see no reason for ever going to war? Or is it something more personal? Perhaps, you are anti-war because you disliked your parents' careers & how it took them away from you ... Limited the time they were available to you? Could it just be a dose of teen rebellion? Mom & Dad have military backgrounds, so you'll be anti-war? Hmmm ...
reece says2014-07-22T10:05:48.1311125-05:00
Sorry i'm i don't think subjectively.
reece says2014-07-22T10:06:09.9791059-05:00
Without the "I'm"
SweetTea says2014-07-22T10:09:51.9749839-05:00
So, you believe your parents are pro-peace? But they have a military background? Are you saying that they are hypocrites? Or are you saying it is possible to be both?
reece says2014-07-22T10:16:10.3110343-05:00
@SweetTea I forgot the proper name for what my father has done over seas in the military but he did peacemaking. He has never been in combat i think. My mum trained cadets. So it is possible to be both.
SweetTea says2014-07-22T10:28:25.6766904-05:00
Reece ... Now, we've established that it is possible for a person in the military to be both an instrument of war & still be a supporter of peace. I agree. I'm sorry to hit you so hard & so close to home, but sometimes that's the best way to make a person understand something. Christians aren't hypocrites if they are pro-war, or pro-death penalty, etc. It is feasible to be both. Personally, I am Pro-Choice and I'm a Christian. Would I have an abortion? No. I consider it murder. But I take offense to allowing the government, predominantly comprised of men, to tell me or any woman what they can do with their body. Today, it's an abortion procedure. A year from now, it could be something else. Does that make me a hypocrite? No. Does it make me a lousy Christian? I don't think so. I cannot, as a Christian, answer for the actions of others (only myself).
SweetTea says2014-07-22T10:30:45.6737826-05:00
Sometimes, you have to think outside the box -- consider the whole picture. It's easy to attach a label, like hypocrite, but that doesn't mean it fits.
reece says2014-07-22T10:39:52.6137111-05:00
Again i don't think objectively and also i'm open minded so that wasn't necessary. You just had to show credible facts that you have failed to present. It's better to be a lousy christian than to be a fundamentalist. I didn't say it wan't feasible to be both.Death might be necessary sometimes but i don't find it morally correct. That's the funny thing that a lot of people do...
reece says2014-07-22T10:40:30.2569937-05:00
Wasn't*
reece says2014-07-22T10:43:45.8915865-05:00
I don't think subjectively i mean :/ sorry for all the mistakes.
