The issue isn't with the people paying taxes. The issue is that 25% of for-profit businesses do not pay taxes. Almost all of the highest earning businesses pay an effective tax rate of 10% or less. Walmart pays an effective tax rate of 7.1%. GE pays an effective tax rate of -11% (they pay no taxes and get back over a billion in subsidies yearly). If these select few decided or were forced to pay taxes, then everyone's taxes would go down.
I do agree that would help Sarra, but I hope you don't expect that to happen while Obama is in office. It certainly will not happen if Hillary Clinton gets into office. On the other end, if Bernie Sanders gets in, he wouldn't just raise taxes on them, but everybody.
@Haroush - That is just not true. Look, there has not been a conservative president that has cared about the middle class since.... None since before WWII. The tax issue has been sold as "you will be paying more" while that means some paltry amount added to the middle class, while the truly rich, and corporations have gotten break after break. That is what is meant by the phrase "fair share". The top, and corporations have not paid anything like their "fair share" for way too long. Time to bring that back in-line.
