We don't give people raw opiates or heroin so why give raw cannabis. If there is a medicinal compound in it it needs to be isolated and prescribed. We should not just give out weed to people.

We actually do give opiates for medical use. You can get a prescription for morphine.

But medicinal Marijuana actually kills pain better than opiates.

@Kreakin marijuana isn't as bad for you as opium or heroine. We allow the sale of cigarettes and alcohol, which are much worse for you, so why not marijuana?

"You can get a prescription for morphine." My point exactly, we don't just give people raw opium. The medicinal component of the poppy is processed into a medicine. "Marijuana actually kills pain better than opiates" If you ask someone with cancer you will know that is totally wrong. They will want opiate based pain relief, perhaps some weed to help them relax and reduce nausea. However there are better sedatives and better anti emetics. "so why not marijuana?" Better to discourage alcohol and tobacco use than add yet another dangerous substance to the list.

Sure, but we're wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on the DEA, who have minimal results in the War on Drugs. Better to legalize a non-threatening drug than waste more money on a failed program.

Not in the form picture above. If its truly got medicinal properties they should be extracted and packaged into a form fit for everyone to use that poses less risk to non users. A pill or something. Some of the people who need it most would be on respirators and stuff anyways. They dont need to be smoking it. No one needs to be smoking any form of medicine. There are better faster ways of intake that pose less risk. If it were viable in that form I think you'd see more drugs made that way.

Pharmaceuticals are much, much more harmful than marijuana. While the treatment seems to work better than weed, the side effects are much worse, and the drugs are designed for you to become dependent on them. While CBD's are all you really need for the medical benefit, the rest of the plant isn't harmful.

I am for medical marijuana because of all the scientific studies and facts that prove the benefits of smoking it for those who need it. According to the Mayo Clinic (one of the world's leading medical industry and care center), a study conducted on those suffering from depression and cancer that were given medical marijuana reported that the marijuana significantly helped with the emotional and physical pain of their specific sufferings. People suffering from cancer and depression are incurring so much pain not visible to the rest of us, and if this simple plant based substance can help those who could truly benefit from it, then I see no harm in legalizing it for medical purposes. According to the Huffington Post (one of the most reliable and credible news sources), there have been no deaths from the usage of marijuana at a medical stand point or for recreational usage, as oppose to the thousands of overdoses and deaths from prescription pain killers. For Americans, especially that of generation z, marijuana is a very relevant cultural topic and we all see it in the news, public posts from celebrities, and popular music and clothing directly marketed towards the generation z consumers. The issue is a big cultural movement now especially since in the past few years, so much controversy all over America has surrounded this specific topic.
