Sure the Shah of Iran ruled with absolute power, but he only did it because of the influences and pressures from the Soviet union and wanted to keep Iran in one piece so that is why he arrested, suppressed, and killed communists, nationalists, etc and there was also a reason why we also overthrew prime minister Mohammad mosaddegh in a coup in 1953 because he was hostile and against western civilization just like ayatollah Khomeini and (again) is the reason why iran (pro-west)'s monarchy ruled with absolute power which (unfortunately) led to the end of the pro-western monarchy and being replaced by an authoritarian, theocratic anti-western regime or dictatorship.
