  • politicians are so old anyways that they probably would die or get assassinated if they somehow even got elected more than twice. (This is satire for those of you who didnt pick up on that)

  • What I do like about the Western system of democracy - and yes, I do recognise its merits, although I don't see it as a 'universal value' or the only means of pursuing its desired goal - is that a government that have lost the mandate of heaven through causing discontent among the populace can be peacefully replaced with one that gains it. The change in the question essentially renders this advantage non-existent.

  • Especially not with this failure in office.

I think that we should allow presidents to run for more than three terms in the event of war. Imagine if FDR had not been able to run again in the middle of WWII.

@Atheist-Independent This idea would lead to egotistic presidents (extra ego I should say LOL) to get into constant conflicts just to stay in office. It would lead to increased corruption beyond what we already see today.

Eh. But it still makes no sense to change horses midstream. Maybe the prerequisite would be that the US is engaged in a defensive war, however that terminology can be debated as well.
