Closing sweatshops in 3rd world country will do more harm than good

Posted by: Moza

Sweatshop (or sweat factory) is a pejorative term for a workplace that has socially unacceptable working conditions. The work may be difficult, dangerous or underpaid. Workers in sweatshops may work long hours for low pay, regardless of laws mandating overtime pay or a minimum wage; child labor laws may also be violated.

I'd say that there would be some negative effects. Unemployment would increase drastically in the short term.

Vox ya it's an interesting topic as it is not completely black and white I believe that the conditions should be as good as possible but they shouldn't be closed since so many families' require those jobs at sweatshops and also with the low wages thing, things cost less and is worth more so therefore pay is less.

Ok so, some of the people agree that it will doo more harm than good. How can you say that? Dont you know anything about the VIOLENCE OF HUMAN RIGHTS??? Child labour, abuse, women loose their baby's because of working for 65-85 hours a week when they dont get maternity leave. Well i know that it will harm the popular shops like NIKE, APPLE. But they should have some sense of Human rights.
