Our problems started in 2010, with the GOP-controlled House. The Tea Party influence has done more harm than good. I'm an Independent, but since 2011 I have lost a huge amount of trust in the GOP. I won't vote for anyone remotely connected to the Tea Party, as a result. I have never voted a straight ticket, in my life, but I am considering it this year.

The majority of independents also disagree with te GOP. They can no longer attract the youth towards their party.

Me? Somewhere in between, however I shall stick to the title of Socialist because humanity isn't ready for Communism.
