Decisions should be based upon Morality and Logic rather than Emotion and Selfishness.

This is somewhat based upon personal belief and there is an option bellow should you disagree. But I believe most decisions in life are based on emotion and selfishness. Selfishness itself is primarily exercised to enhance one's own emotional gratification. But it can be applied to almost all things. I do not believe ALL world leaders are corrupt, but for those which are (which make up the majority), they are selfish and decision are therefore made for their own benefit. The result, they are emotionally gra

**DESCRIPTION CONTINUED** The result, they are emotionally gratified. Lets face it, for us citizens, how often do we make decision based upon which will make us most happy? Quite a lot of the time, and for some people, these actions are pretty selfish. This logic can be applied to cheating in a relationship. Cheating is selfish, and clearly makes the cheater happy. Now consider the alternative, decisions based upon morality and logic. Applying this to world leaders, logical solutions can be provided and morality can be there to ensure its not cold, hard and brutal. The "right" thing to do, is placed first instead of what is easy. When it comes to cheating, its is morally wrong to cheat, so the cheating (acting upon morality) would NOT cheat. Logically people would not make foolish decisions based upon simple, flawed, emotion desires. But what do you guys thing?

I think decisions should be based on logic, science, and ethics (with ethics having the least impact on the decision).

To me, I say just do whatever makes you happy. The only issue there is what makes me happy may not make you happy.

@SNP1 , that is pretty much my argument. And @Muttl200, that's my point, what makes YOU happy may negatively impact upon someone else. With morality over emotion, you would pursue the right action, instead of the action that merely satisfies yourself.

I think that every decision should be based off of what it is meant to be for the situation. Let's be honest, not every decision is for emotions and selfishness, and should be used with morality and logic in mind, but not every situation is in need of morality, and is about how one feels and his or her opinion. So, this is a gray area

@demonlord343, but for a decision where the two categories that I highlighted do indeed clash, would you not agree doing the right thing and pursuing the logical solution, as opposed to selfishly enhancing your own emotional gains, is the better option? Many decisions in the world when you think about have this "conflict". Look at major world issues. For Global Warming, logically we should be doing everything we can do prevent it and protect ourselves from its effects. Yet due to the selfishness of each country, we pursue our own self interests instead. Also, taking said steps to prevent/prepare for Global Warming would make us unhappier (emotional impact upon the decision), but never the less, it would be the RIGHT thing to do (morality).

Morality and logic are not not comparable ideas in the same way as emotion and selfishness. To emote is to be human, it does not mean the same as selfishness. Morality and logic often contradict as well.

@Venusara, Emotion and Selfish actions are strongly connected in the respect that people often act in a selfish manner for their own emotional gratification. People can be, and often are selfish to make themselves other regardless of consequences to others. This can be applied to many decisions, ranging from those at the bottom, to the world leaders at the top. Letting Morality and logic take charge does not mean a world without emotion, morality if strongly connected to emotion but is still fundamentally different. Logic and morality are tow very different things. Logic is however, very important and must be given more of a place in the world. Logically, the nations of the world should be tackling the many sustainability issues of the world, but fail to do so. Logical decisions are often placed aside, in favour or flawed decision based on emotion and selfishness. Instead of the sensible option. Again morality can come into play to make sure said logical decision is morally sound, and not an act of brutality. Killing off most of the worlds population would logically be sound for most world problems, but morality can come into play and say no. Building renewable energy power plants is logical, and morally sound. Hence logic and morality can work together.
