What’s it say about life? We get together, tell yourself stories that violate every law of the universe, just to get through the goddamn day? What’s that say about your reality?
Their are a couple of ancient floods that some archeologists claim to be the one depicted in the bible. Mass flooding wasn't uncommon in the fertile crescent back then.
@58539672 Do they also say that it was common for people to live up to 900 years old?
@reece Their are a couple of theories surrounding their supposed lifespan. One that I think most non-believes think is most accurate is that they used a different calendar than we use today. A year to them may not be a year to us. People don't just make things up in regards to their religious texts. Some of it is based on reality.
People make stuff up all the time. There is a complete religion based on the imagination of a science fiction writer.
@58539672 God uses writing to communicate this?
@TBR Scientology has more in common with a philosophy than a religion. They do not have a set dogma and a lot of their depictions of their God (Theta) are just generic depictions taken from other religions with a scientific feel added into it. Its more of a "look inside of you to find your own enlightenment" kind of deal.
@58539672 It's more like a cult. They blackmail you.
Some social aspects of it is like Christianity but on steroids. If you want to leave, your friends and family start to ignore you if their members. The church threatens to release your personal information you've confessed. So on...
The ship described in the Bible is impracticable. Impossible I should say at least with wood. The duration of the flood is unprecedented. If people seriously think two lions can live for a year without eating meat, humanity has failed. But faith, so, duh.
