Did humans come from Mesoptamia or East Africa?

Though it is widely accepted that humans began in East Africa, many still claim this to be false and we instead came from Mesopotamia which is mostly modern day Iraq in the Middle East. Which theory do you accept?

  • Mesopotamia

  • East Africa

Biblical accounts are not clear enough to pinpoint the exact location where humans first lived, which would be the Garden of Eden. These accounts tell that the Garden was located on one river which then divided into four rivers, the Pishon, the Gihon, Hiddekel (the Tigris), and the Euphrates. Two of these rivers are around today, however it is most likely that they are not the same rivers described in Genesis. This is due to the flood. Prior to the flood, the Earth would have been one single landmass, which was then divided by the deluge of waters which flooded the earth. This massive act would have totally ripped apart the continent and left the Earth looking much like it does today. Noah's family would have named areas/rivers after ones they were used to, much as British settlers did in the US colonies and Australia. Therefore, it is impossible to say where humans first lived due to these two reasons- 1)- there would not have been separate continents for them to have lived on due to the single landmass, and 2)- that one continent was then split up by the flood, leaving new, unoriginal locations for humans to repopulate. I've really "believed" in the Out of Africa theory. It sounds okay, but I'm just not feeling it. I don't know why, but I just don't think the human race originated in Africa. I believe we did come from the Middle East- ie Mesopotamia. I could say it has somewhat to do with my biblical beliefs but it's not just that. It's just that the Middle East, in my opinion, has one of the richest histories in the world- Soooo many civilizations: WAY more than Europe, Africa or east and south Asia. I could be wrong, but that's just what I think. The Out of Africa has not been fully proven so I have no obligation to fully believe it. I guess I somewhat believe it, but I really just don't know.
