  • Well he has had a few important rivals killed off so whats stopping him

  • He's the "president" of Russia and he already has numerous laws against open criticism, with all that power i wouldn't be surprised. I better watch out, he might have me killed too. :)

No way to tell; there are probably tons of Putin fanatics out there.

If it were actually the Russian government that had him shot, then it wasn't Putin who gave the order, for sure.

If Putin wanted to kill him, I'd say he would have literally made it look like an accident. Putin's smarter than that.

Litvinenko was hardly made to look like an accident though, neither were the previous killings. I think he does not care as his power is nearly absolute there.

Putin did get him shot. What is to stop him from murdering activists. He has done it in the pasy

The FSB is more professional than to shoot a man in broad daylight in the heart of Moscow without silencers near the back of the Kremlin who is a public figure and leave a witness alive to tell the tale. If the Russian government did this and purposely wanted to look bad, well, thanks to the assuming people who watch action movies, it succeeded.

After a bit of reading it seems that Putin is balancing the fascist half of his Gov against the liberal half. It is possible that the the more extreme members of his Gov are responsible.
