  • God Bless america, the land where you have freedom of religion that allows you choose to not say god bless america. But I am not an atheist so God bless America.

  • As a proud American, I must say I love this country!

  • Murica! F*ck yeah!

  • If you say no, then your either a European fruit, an Asian communist, a south American Nazi, or a North American Liberal. You could also be a penguin from Antarctica.

  • 1. There's a difference between nationalism and patriotism... I LOVE America because I'm patriotic. 2. America is just a good country. We help people... A LOT... even if we don't need to. 3. We win.

  • I lit an effigy of Bin Laden on fire the fourth of july after we got him, WOOT

  • 'Murica! Nuf said.

  • How can you live in America and not love it? It gives you the freedom to control your own life instead of a tyrant doing it.

  • Texas is the best state and America is the best country

  • I love what it originally stood for. Unfortunately it has lost its way. I always said ....Would you rather live next store to the old USSR or the US of A? No need to answer that one.

No, I do not "love" my country, though I may feel patriotic or proud of my country. Unfortunately, at this moment I feel neither, simply because of the horrible direction this country is headed in.

Simply put, I am a member of a group which the multicultural melting pot which is the United States is increasingly failing to properly accommodate.

Im neutral but i always want to improve my country and i care about its people and i like most of our core values of freedom and equality even if we dont really follow through on half of them like we should.

@CannedBread: Are you saying I can't be a Liberal Fruit? I thought being American meant I could be whatever I wanted!
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T14:59:09.4672196-05:00
"Once you say your country can do no wrong, your government will do only evil." TheMarquis, if you truly love your country then you know that it can do wrong if left alone. You have to actively protect what you love, otherwise you may lose it. If the US were to become Ultra Nationalistic, then it wouldn't be the country I love anymore.

"Are you saying I can't be a Liberal Fruit? I thought being American meant I could be whatever I wanted!" Well it is kind of hard to break the laws of physics. If you are actually a sentient fruit, I apologize ahead of time for not believing it.

@Joe: I care greatly for America, but once you say love, things start to go down hill in history.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T15:05:26.9809038-05:00
@TheMarquis the love isn't unconditional.
TheMarquis says2015-05-06T15:06:18.0148127-05:00
@Joe: I can back that. Unconditional love for your country, ethnicity, religion, culture, etc., is how we get Nazi types.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T15:07:48.3501296-05:00
The reason why I love my country is its freedoms. If you were to take away those freedoms then I would lose love for it.
TheMarquis says2015-05-06T15:09:31.7751822-05:00
@Joe: I'm not sure if this makes sense to you or not, but being poor, mentally ill, bisexual, and an atheist while living in a place where people hate all of the above openly and joke about it, but it is hard for me to pin the word love to the place since it has treated me the way it was. Since I got into more of America my feelings are better for it, but you should keep in mind that not all people are treated with the same freedoms you are.
biggest_pro_going says2015-05-06T15:11:09.5060888-05:00
People who hate MURICA= Russians, most Ukrainians, every body in the middle east, Chinese, south Americans, most Europeans, Intelligent Americans, Communists, Socialists, echo warriors, Black people and generally most intelligent people. That makes up about 80% of the postulation of earth. Whats not to love about America invading a country a day, the richest 1% own 99% of the wealth, half of its population are raced, every American is brainwashed to love America, says it stands for a democracy when its a 2 party dictatorship were both parties want the same, claims it a hero in places like Libya and Ukraine after destroying them, the list goes on.
TheMarquis says2015-05-06T15:14:31.3996152-05:00
@biggest_pro_going: That's just not true.Shockingly few people hate our country. I've met a lot of Pakistanis, Chinese, Koreans, Iranians, Nigerians, Jordinians, Azerbaijanis, Palestinians, etc., who don't mind us.
triangle.128k says2015-05-06T15:22:08.7045958-05:00
If US never went to war with the middle east, all this anti-americanism wouldn't be spreading.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T15:28:37.8381824-05:00
@TheMariquis, you are overly stereotyping americans based on a few bad apples. Every single group has bad apples. I could go on about how a few(a small amount) liberal atheist hate theist republicans openly and never pass up an opportunity to joke about it. Would it be correct for me to think all liberals and atheist are like this? No. Are all americans the hateful people you have to deal with? No.
TheMarquis says2015-05-06T15:29:35.7900098-05:00
@Joe: I am fully aware. I wasn't saying that those people represent America, I am saying that you shouldn't let yourself be a representation either. You have a lot of freedoms, but you should keep in mind those who don't in your own back yard.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T15:30:32.2167160-05:00
Do you not have freedom of religion? Do you not have freedom of speech?
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T15:31:16.2708980-05:00
Are you aware there are several countries that lack those freedoms?
TheMarquis says2015-05-06T15:32:38.1407476-05:00
@Joe: I am fully aware. Saudi Arabia is worse than Pakistan, does that mean Pakistan is perfect? No. America isn't perfect either. Not all people are protected and free. I am not telling you to hate America. On the contrary, I am telling you not to hate those who feel they have the right to hate America. Some are just immature. Others have been deeply abused and have a reason for their hate.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T15:35:54.0211741-05:00
Did I ever say I "hate" those who hate my country?
TheMarquis says2015-05-06T15:38:48.1774916-05:00
@Joe: You didn't. I'm not assuming you do. If anything, see this as a general reminder to everybody. Things like the walk on the flag challenge get people really upset, but the angry people are just totally missing the point.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T15:40:10.8273512-05:00
Do we not have the right to get upset?
TheMarquis says2015-05-06T15:43:29.6144591-05:00
@Joe: You obviously have a right to. What I'm telling you is not to just focus on how it upsets you. That leads you to dodge the point. What I'm saying is, if your love isn't unconditional, then make sure not to forget that we don't all live lives with as few road bumps as a straight, white, middle class male.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T15:47:55.5417090-05:00
I just don't see how a few bumps requires walking on, burning, or defacing a flag that is a symbol of what many people have died to preserve, our freedoms. If the country didn't have those freedoms, those bumps on the road would be mountains. While people have the right to disrespect our flag, I find it paradoxical that they use that right to deface the thing that is a symbol of that right.
TheMarquis says2015-05-06T15:54:48.6974058-05:00
@Joe: For some people they ARE mountains. You can't just say, "look at this or that country," when we run into a problem. We have some very real issues with human rights that we need to take care of.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T16:02:57.0900055-05:00
I am aware that this country isn't perfect and needs to be helped. But to hate this country requires a certain level of ignorance of what it does have. To burn or walk on the flag doesn't say that you want it to be better and is direct disrespect of the freedoms it does have and ignores the work that needs to be done in the future to make it better.
TheMarquis says2015-05-06T16:03:30.7430686-05:00
@Joe: Those people aren't getting all of those freedoms.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T16:06:54.9647168-05:00
Exactly what freedoms are you claiming people aren't getting all of. They seem to have the freedom to burn the flag and say they hate America.
TheMarquis says2015-05-06T16:10:51.4047706-05:00
@Joe: Police brutality towards Latinos is horrible. Sexual orientation isn't a protected status. The government doesn't necessarily do all or most of it, but they aren't helping a lot either. Our culture is diverse, and that means there is a lot of discrimination. All cultures have their own hatreds and you can see all of those on some level here. People use their culture to justify some of the horrible hatreds they bare.
Mathgeekjoe says2015-05-06T16:17:05.5877452-05:00
Police brutality is a tricky thing to fix. On one hand you have good police who end up getting the wrong end of the stick. On the other hand you have some people who abuse power and commit police brutality. It is not a one size fix all issue. But making over generalizations about police(which many people have on this site) and mob mentality is only going to make it worse.

Russia_The_almighty says2015-05-06T20:10:50.5864839-05:00
@TheMarquis Then what is the very best? Despite my picture being Vladimir Putin next to a flag of Russia it can't be Russia even from my opinion.
TheMarquis says2015-05-06T20:14:21.3630528-05:00
@Russia: If you go by living standards as a whole then Finland seems pretty awesome. I don't know what is the best and I am sure that nowhere is perfect, but my main concern is getting everywhere closer to that.
Russia_The_almighty says2015-05-06T20:19:41.4479564-05:00
@MathGeekjoe I'm a Lightning's fan. I like the warmth of Florida. My grandfather was Ukrainian when it was part of Russia. My grandmother was french. My dad on the other side of my family is Venezuelan. If I didn't have anything on my summaries of my profile I would joke and say I was living in Denmark. If Vladimir Putin didn't become so authoritarian in the past years I would have liked to be living in Southern Russia. For now I am an American living in 'Murica/America/USA/land of the free and home of the brave/first country to truly beat Britain in a war.

" I've met a lot of Pakistanis, Chinese, Koreans, Iranians, Nigerians, Jordinians, Azerbaijanis, Palestinians, etc." do you travel the world? Questing people on their attitudes to America?
TheMarquis says2015-05-11T05:34:09.7370603-05:00
@biggest_pro_going: Nope, but you'd be blown away if you knew how diverse the anime and gaming communities online were. They don't mind my being American, and I ask occasionally why it doesn't. They just seem to be sad with the overall situations of their area, not upset with America over it.
biggest_pro_going says2015-05-12T03:42:17.6070279-05:00
I don't think the anime community reflects the majority of its people view. They don't mind you being American because all there thought is put into gaming, they have forgot what a country is. Since in places like Pakistan/China a very small percentage of people are in the anime community there.
TheMarquis says2015-05-17T22:19:25.8195765-05:00
@biggestprogoing: You couldn't be more wrong about China. They are a very anime loving people and their gaming stats blow my mind every time I see them. And you can't think I've never met somebody who is uber racist or anything within those communities. You also underestimate how representative nerds are. Nerds come in all genders, religions, and ages. I also tutor English and French so I speak to A LOT of Middle Easterns outside of that community. They all say they love America.
CannedBread says2015-06-08T09:54:38.2149652-05:00
@biggest_pro_going, like Russia is any better, come talk to me once your newspapers aren't regulated by the government. Or your crazy leader isn't provoking a third world war. Russia is still the Soviet Union, but with a different title. The only protests that happen, are quickly disbanded by the Russian "police". Russia is just a wasteland, inhabited by people still living off of the past glory of the Soviet Union. Russia's military is awful, everything is poorly assembled, and half of it probably doesn't even work. I think I have said this before but you have fallen victim to the Russian propaganda machine, that labels America as a evil empire bent on taking over the world, which in reality is exactly what Russia is.
