I was considered learning disabled as a kid, despite my high IQ. I'm not exactly sure why the school system would want to place that label on me and leave me with a complex I can never quite shake.

Yeah, this is why I believe the only group of people is who UNFAIRLY discriminated against is those with mental illnesses.

@ZacGraphics A lot of great minds that had learning/social disabilities struggled at school.
ZacGraphics says2015-10-16T13:19:42.0586066Z
@reece Thanks, but school is such an important factor nowadays that stuggling in school might not allow me the oppurtunity to show off my "intellectual skills", just because colleges and employers look at how well you did in school.
Wylted says2015-10-16T13:58:31.2492518Z
Employers usually don't care how well you did in highschool, which is where learning disabled kids learn the skills they'll need to be successful in college
ZacGraphics says2015-10-16T14:00:21.3527152Z
@Wylted Ah, thank you for clarifying. I'm a 15 year old guy, so I don't know much about my future yet. I should probably invest my time into that, haha.
Vox_Veritas says2015-10-16T14:10:30.4846413Z
With Aspies this is generally the case.
TBR says2015-10-16T15:15:55.2128136Z
Learning disabilities does not equal mental illness. Dyslexia is not a mental illness. Whats with your polls today?
OneNationUnderGod says2015-10-16T15:20:50.0272830Z
Yes, TBR is right. There is a difference between mental illness and learning disabilities..... I was noticing that while voting and found it confusing, but went ahead with my comment within the voting area anyway. I was pretty much addressing learning disabilities, and not mental illness in my comment.
Wylted says2015-10-16T19:33:10.6488432Z
Yes I noticed the confusion between learning disabled and mental illness also, two completely different things
Haroush says2015-10-16T20:03:49.1441982Z
Learning disabilities is considered a mental illness.. Genius.
TBR says2015-10-16T20:06:46.3884846Z
@Haroush - No. Just no they aren't.
Haroush says2015-10-16T20:06:47.5804296Z
A wide range of conditions that affect mood, thinking, and behavior.
Haroush says2015-10-16T20:08:34.7388903Z
That is the definition of mental illness. So, think about that TBR and please keep showing liberals are all about lying.
TBR says2015-10-16T20:10:01.5900333Z
@Haroush - You are just wrong on this. The two are different. https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-bipolar-coaster/201103/crazy-making-dyslexia I have other links, but this one should do (you only need to read the first sentence.
TBR says2015-10-16T20:11:46.4353767Z
How about this one http://www.learningdisabilities.org.uk/help-information/learning-disability-a-z/l/learning-disabilities/
TBR says2015-10-16T20:14:11.0969586Z
http://www.ldonline.org/ldbasics/whatisld Seriously. There is no source I can find where learning disabilities are lumped with mentally illness.
Haroush says2015-10-16T20:26:41.5025892Z
Just check out the MAYO clinic or NAMI. I know what I am talking about.. Specifically look at the definition of mental illness from these two sources.. You are cherry picking information.
TBR says2015-10-17T00:05:53.2278295Z
@Haroush - It appears you really don't. I was looking on NAMI before, and can't find a word about learning disabilities - because they are not part of their domain. However, this link about ADHD comes closes, and only replated conditions. https://www.nami.org/Learn-More/Mental-Health-Conditions/ADHD
TBR says2015-10-17T00:07:19.3247814Z
What is this very simple point so hard to you to give? You just are wrong on it. What difference does it make to your argument?
Haroush says2015-10-17T03:39:56.9927960Z
No you are wrong, you know it. The definition means exactly what it says. You just don't want to admit you as a liberal are a no good liar that likes to use vulnerable people as scapegoats to push agendas.
Haroush says2015-10-17T03:41:36.8487559Z
Mental illness - Mayo Clinic www.Mayoclinic.Org/.../mental-illness/.../definition/con-200... Mayo Clinic Mental illness refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. Examples of mental illness include ... ‎Symptoms - ‎Treatments and drugs - ‎Causes - ‎Tests and diagnosis
Haroush says2015-10-17T03:43:05.2002383Z
You are a piece of $hit for that.
Haroush says2015-10-17T03:44:11.7667184Z
Lying that is.. You can't admit to anything you do or say wrong because you aren't no man.. MAN UP!
reece says2015-10-17T11:02:28.9180880Z
@Haroush "So, think about that TBR and please keep showing liberals are all about lying." So much self-projection with conservatives. Just the other week you were saying liberals are like snakes in the brush playing with people's emotions with facts, etc. I've said it before and i'll say it again... You need help. The contradiction is over overwhelming.
TBR says2015-10-17T14:44:48.0950057Z
@Haroush - It's not going to go anywhere, but please look at the definition you keep point to. Do you think that definition is the same for learning disabilities? Let's list out some common learning disabilities. Dyscalculia ( difficulty with numbers ) Dysgraphia ( motor skills ) Dyslexia ( reading ) ADP ( auditory ) Dyspraxia ( muscle control). NONE OF THESE ARE MENTAL ILLNESS!!!! You don't go to a psychiatrist or psychologist for these issues - you get help from educators. || For what it's worth, and if you bother to read this far, I don't understand why this has anything to do with your issue? Wow are you trying so hard to connecting learning disability --> mental illness --> liberal media. Exactly what is the point here?
TBR says2015-10-17T14:48:44.6891555Z
And for those watching at home. Where Haroush cuts the Mayo quote - at "Examples of mental illness include". What they used for examples "anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors." not a word about learning disorders.
Haroush says2015-10-17T15:05:38.6774549Z
It's obvious you are an idiot. All you need to read is Any condition affecting one's thinking, mood, and behavior. Quit trying to stretch things out.. You can't. The general term mental illness refers to any mental health condition or disorder. Face the facts and keep living up to your name To Be self-Righteous
Haroush says2015-10-17T15:08:25.2418580Z
All of those require psychiatric medications to help with their concentration and anxiety dealing with learning.
Haroush says2015-10-17T15:11:30.1678142Z
Also, there is plenty of links between these mental health disorders and things like bipolar disorder and epilepsy.
Haroush says2015-10-17T15:13:18.8395040Z
Many people who have asbergers syndrome have to take psychiatric meds as well.
TBR says2015-10-17T15:24:24.3160940Z
OK. Lets look at Asperger's. It sat on the line between definitions of "mental Disorder", and is no longer listed as such. It, however, was NEVER listed as a learning disability. No autism is part of the term learning disability. What is so hard to get about this?
Haroush says2015-10-17T15:30:24.8775827Z
How about let's look at the fact you never experienced mental health disorders or have a PH.D.. That sounds better.
TBR says2015-10-17T15:33:39.1573712Z
Please. If you bother to click on one link - click this one. http://ldaamerica.org/is-a-learning-disability-considered-a-mental-illness/ 'No, a Learning Disability is not a mental illness. Learning Disabilities are neurologically-based. They result from “faulty wiring” in specific areas of the brain. These disabilities will impact on an individual’s ability to process and to use information and, thus, can impact on this individual’s ability to be successful with reading, writing, math, and other learning tasks."
Haroush says2015-10-17T15:44:34.6695353Z
Look, your sources aren't official. Furghermore, since mental health issues are still being debated among doctors, classification of mental health disorders is very fluent. Therefore, this is why they maintain that definition of mental illness as being any condition which affects your mood, thinking, and behavior. This definition include s learning disabilities too whether you want to admit it or not.

TBR says2015-10-17T15:47:27.3148970Z
I have given a dozen. The last from the "Learning Disabilities Association of America". What more do you want? You have provided NO link connecting mental illness with learning disorders. Further, you called me a liar, I would like a little respect and a simple apology.
TBR says2015-10-17T16:21:48.1130195Z
I'm waiting for you, Haroush, to man up.
TBR says2015-10-19T16:21:04.9087294Z
And Haroush runs away... The talk of "civil discord" or owning mistakes left yet again in the dustbin.
Haroush says2015-10-19T17:07:36.6200149Z
You clearly are too incoherent to understand anything. Well, I was going to say you must taking drugs, but maybe you'd rather me give you the benefit of doubt? Yeah, probably so.
reece says2015-10-19T17:16:07.3986376Z
@Haroush Do you cry while masterbating when watching porn?
Haroush says2015-10-19T18:07:21.8046328Z
Reece, Go back to Andromeda.. I thought you liked it in that galaxy?
reece says2015-10-19T18:47:19.0010587Z
@Haroush :'( how could you say that? You're a horrible person. ;)
