Funding Palestine is a really bad idea. The region is overrun by terrorists and suicide bombers and the government is corrupt. Do you really think giving money to the government is going to go to a worthy cause? Why wouldn't the overrun state use it to send more terrorists into Israel to kill more people? Even if you're neutral on the matter, giving money to both sides would just lead to more violence and bloodshed. Nothing will be accomplished, and saying "people are dying and we need to help" is just a demonstration of ignorance towards the real situation there. It's like funding Iraq and Iran to fight each other. There's no logic inserted in the idea. Appeals to emotion are really the only things behind this idea.
Israel is the strongest American ally in the Middle East. They promote peace and prosperity in the region. Yes, there is conflict over Israel's territory, however, it is their nation. They have even given up land in the past to other nations as requested to avoid conflict; unfortunately, history (and present) has shown that you give an inch, they take a mile. Nothing is ever good enough. These enemies of Israel now want more land and are threatening and have made actionable attempts militarily on forcing more land from the Israeli's.
Imagine you go and purchase a house one day, a month later a couple bangs on your front door saying it's their house and to get out. You find out they were evicted or forced to short sell due to inability to financially maintain the property. Should you then give up your property to them? No, it's yours.
The bottom line is, the Arab world in the Middle each in its entirety wants the full destruction and removal of the Jewish community not only from the Middle East but from the world. The Arab world including Palestine have made this extremely well known and have time and time again made military threats and violent military actions against Israel to make this happen. The worst of these atrocities being repeatedly launching missile and artillery strikes against the civilian population of Israel. This is why we supplement Israel in every way including their Patriot Missile Defense System.
As Israel is not only a major US ally, but also a member of the United Nations, it is our responsibility and pleasure to not only protect, but also supplement the nation of Israel. Palestine, refusing to modernize, treat their citizens as people, and agree to political, non-military actions; is unable and unwilling to join the UN, so we have no obligation to them.
Varrack: There are more ways to support a nation than by just giving their governments weapons and money. You can provide food and medical supplies using methods which make it difficult for the state to come in and steal them from the civilian population, plus if you cover that food and medicine with your nations flag than the people will know exactly where its coming from.
Well, we kind of already support both (though it isn't exactly equal). The Palestinians are one of the largest receivers of foreign aid in the world. And one of the biggest donators (both governmental and non-governmental) is the US. Israel does get more though (including being on a special list of 8 countries that get a SUPER discount on military hardware).
How far back does your map research go? Use history as a whole as your reference, not just a set number of decades or so.
Additionally, research the reasons behind the border changes; include both sides of the arguments, not just one or two websites from a google search.
You are making Israel seem like a conquering nation when they aren't.
@MakeSensePeopleDont - How far do you want to go back? The agreed border (international recognize) is what we should be talking about. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_law_and_Israeli_settlements
And, we have millions of people in our country who live on the street, yet some people are unwilling to spend their tax dollars in providing them a home. IMO, I think we should put Americans infront of Israeil's.
Thats also an incorrect statement. Jews didn't just invade the land. Some of them bought it as private property, and they all united to make into a Jewish state. What there doing is wrong right now, but Jews have just as much rights has Palestinians do over the land. Its only a matter of them sharing it peacefully.
What exactly would be the difference? Also, that probably impossible, because most Palestinians do not like Jews, and will probably kill them anyways, compared to the Jews who do not hate Palestinians.
I know you didn't, but I'm just don't understand why some American refuse to provide their tax dollars for social programs, but are dying towards giving money to Israel (sorry that comment wasn't directed towards you)
If we could stop provoking and fueling fights with our money, we could put it toward something that helps our society and other's societies. We could help build infrastructure overseas. We could put more money toward education and other social services. Our tax revenue is being funneled into defense companies and war efforts, when it should be used to help the American people more. Then again, the global economy does depend quite a bit on stability in the Middle East... Well, let's educate and reform rather than take over or fight.
