I don't doubt that there are many problems that minorities have to deal with due to their race and that white people don't have to put up with those problems as much but I don't like the idea is assuming that someone is privileged just because the are white before you know their life story.
Heil, what if you have a beagle that is really good at tracking. Wouldn't it be stupid to not use that beagle just because it is a beagle. What if you have a bloodhound that is horrible at tracking, it would be stupid to use that bloodhound just because it is a bloodhound.
It would prevent whites from being victims of racist attack witch happens all the time and from dealing with hardships like disease, injury, poverty, disability, abuse ect. And since there are plenty of white people who deal with these things white privilege doesn't seem to exist.
"Well individual exceptions exist for pretty much everything in society but that doesn't mean generalizations aren't efficient. Ask any employer if they'd rather hire a homeless man or a person with a degree in engineering to construct a bridge and he/she'll always say the person with the degree. Is it possible that some homeless man happened to be better at engineering? Yes. But in general everyone agrees that generalizations are good."
Generalizations tend to be inefficient when the is a very high deviation.
Heil if your statistics were correct. You would still be stupid to discriminate. Lets say you have a job that needs the person operating to an IQ higher than 100. 50% of whites would be eligible, 42.07% of blacks would be eligible. It would be incredible stupid to give up such a large part of your workforce just because it has 7.03% less people eligible.
Tbr I don't deny the existence of missing white women syndrome or driving while black ect. I understand that there are many problems specific to minorities due to their race. But same thing with white people.
You do know there is such a thing as job interviews. Hiring based on race would be stupid in the first place, even with your best case scenario, 50% of your workers aren't qualified. If you were to hire based on actual ability, you end up getting 100% of your workers qualified, and 54% of your workers would be white with 46% being black.
"Law enforcement agencies reported 5,928 criminal incidents involving 6,933 offenses as being motivated by a bias toward a particular race, gender, gender identity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or ethnicity in 2013."
1) Her number is to play on some emotion, without actual fact to back. 2) Even if correct is in line with population. 3) The number given has no point of reference. 700 could be out of high or low and we wouldn't know by reading her post.
When Dilara says ~"700 things happened" I first said to myself. 1) Where is your proof THEN 2) Wait, is that high/low or what? Sound low actually, let me look. ||| THEN I see the number, and, even if her number is accurate (no reason to think it is) it seems right in line with population. So... So what?
Dilaria it doesnt mean nothing bad will ever happen to white people or that white people always have it easy. It means their is a very specific set of problems that as a white person you will never face. The fact is if you anda black person commit the exact same violent crime they are more likey to get the death sentence. It means it you do drugs and they do drugs theh will get a harsher sentence. They will get stopped on the street more they will be targeted more by hate group. PURLEY ON THE BASIS OF SKIN COLOR they face more problems than you do in the basis of your skin color not that they face more problems in general
Stefy. I don't do drugs or commit crimes so I won't have to deal with the first two examples you gave. If an African American (or anyone for that matter) commits a crime they should get sentenced and we should blame their actions and not some made up privilege. How about they don't commit the crime in the first place? You really seem to dislike white people I acknowledge the problems minorities face purely because of their race.
Stefy seriously. There are 700 anti white hate crimes a year according to the fbi. 700. And you say we won't ever get attacked by racially based hate groups. Mathew Owens in mobile Alabama was beaten nearly to death with rods by a group of black People as justice for trayvon martin. Zemir begic was hammered to death by a group of black and Hispanic teens who yelled "kill white people". Kevin Shiflet an 8 year old in Virginia had his throat slit by a Black man because the killer "hated white people"
Anti white hate crimes happen all the time. Take a look at white girl bleed a lot by Colin flahertyz he lists 500 instances of Black mob violence between 2010 and 20-3. 500. Majorly those instances were anti white. You must really hate white people to make such a statement.
Yeah dilara but you are far less likley to face a hate group and im not saying that minirities should not face punishment for crimes im syaing if you were to commit the same crime or any whitte person was to commit the exact same crime as a black person, the black person would face a harsher sentence.
And im glad you recognize the problems minorities face purley based on race. Because the fact that they face more purley racial based problems than whites is white privilege.
And its not that they will never be aattacked by hate crimes. Its that there are less organized and widley recognized hate grouos against whites and fix news doesnt come on everyday and talk about what lazy moochers you are. I am white i dont hate white people i hust have empathy for people outside my race
Dilara - "Stefy seriously. There are 700 anti white hate crimes a year according to the fbi. 700. And you say we won't ever get attacked by racially based hate groups." Did you look at my posts? Did you understand the point I was making? And, while we are at it, got a link for your number?
"7,164 people were victims of hate crimes last year, down about seven percent from 7,713 in 2011." -- "According to the report, nearly half of all reported hate crimes were racially motivated, with 66 percent deemed anti-black, and 22 percent anti-white. In 2011, the data revealed that 71 percent of racially motivated crimes were committed against blacks and 16 percent against whites."
So Dilara, if you want to look at hate crimes, it looks a like this. 7,164 total for 2012. Of that total that gets 4,728 targeting blacks and 1,576 targeting whites. If it were distributed by demographics, using the same percentages, the proper number would be 895 targeting blacks, and 5,516 targeting whites. Do you still want to argue your hate crime point?
Dilara: Thats not what you said before did you just make it up?
And in addition to this, black people also face far more workplace and housing discrimination as well as more police brutality and injustice in the legal system as well as everyday aggressions and biases that white people don't face.
After discussions with Mathgeek regarding circles and triangles doing terrible things to each-other, we have agreed the most honest way to express this is as a ratio using the current numbers, not a perspective distribution. You as a white person have a 1:52k chance of being a vic of a hate crime vs a black person at 1:26k. As a white person, a member of the majority population, only a minority of people CAN be bias against you even if the minority is MORE biased against the majority. Regardless, the ratio is what it is, and white people are CURRENTLY much less likely to be the vic of hate crime.
A black person is more likely to commit a hate crime against a white than vice versa. And 25 times more likely to murderer a white than vice versa (fbi. 400 black I white murderers a year, 180 white on Black murderers a year. 40 million blacks and 200million whites)
Mathgeek - http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-6 - This shows that 448 blacks murdered whites, whereas 193 whites murdered blacks. So we can see that more than double the interracial homicides are black-on-white over white-on-black.
Misterman, I knew the statistic was there, I actually already looked at it. I also agree with DIlara on this issue. I would just like for her to post links when she sources her arguments, it makes it much easier for people see her points.
