Do you have a right to counsel someone even though you're a hypocrite?

Comments would be great.

  • Yes, you have a right. Good advice is good advice.

  • No, you don't have a right. Lead by example.

  • You could tell him/her, 'look how I screwed up. Don't follow my example.'

  • Good advice is good advice, even if you don't have the will power to follow it yourself.

  • The best advice comes from people who've made those mistakes in the past

  • Not everyone is perfect and sometimes giving advice to others doesn't mean you aren't trying the same advice yourself. If you tell someone, "be happy" its not like you can automatically lead by example and lead a happy life

  • if they ask you for advice

@Diqiucun_Cunmin I didn't want to comment because of how i would influence the poll, but f_ck it. You could go down the obvious Route; for example, by telling someone to wear their seat belt even though YOU don't. I might as well vote.

Seat belt law ... Its like starting a swear jar that you go on and impose on the entire country. Maybe some people dont mind swearing.

Its messed up to tell someone to do something when you don't do it yourself. Especially when what you're impressing on them is totally about you and your own personal enrichment priorities.
