Do you PERSONALLY support the idea of a queer president?

Posted by: minnymilerza

Queer can be considered a blanket term for any gender/sexual minority. This might include homosexuals, transsexuals, and bisexuals

Retro—not to sound pretentious, but his/her/some kind of gender neutral pronoun
reece says2015-04-14T11:39:00.8304237-05:00
@retrogamer176 you might wanna edit what you said.

Haha I'm just giving retrogamer a hard time. Although, who knows, someone might get offended

Retrogamer—I guess so, haha

The term "queer" was probably not the best term to use in this poll, just for reference.

Craig—the word doesn't have such a negative connotation anymore

"How do you know any of the others weren't?" Thats precisely what would have made them OK to be president in that regard.
Stefy says2015-04-14T15:37:39.5797937-05:00
How would you support it not personally?
TBR says2015-04-14T15:39:15.2698662-05:00
@FreedomBeforeEquality - How would you know? Perhaps by their spouse.
minnymilerza says2015-04-14T15:39:15.3478647-05:00
Stefy—you have to be EXTREMELY specific on this website. People always take things the wrong way

FREEDOMbeofreequality: How would they not represent americas ideals? I thiught America was about freedom as in the freedom to identify as any sexual orientation that you are.

Minnymilerza: lol i get. People always twist each others words im just being a brat :P
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-14T17:56:32.4759593-05:00
"How would you know? Perhaps by their spouse." Someone above must have though we had some "in the closet" reps then. "I thiught America was about freedom as in the freedom to identify as any sexual orientation that you are." They can declare themselves any five types of insane that they want ... I wouldnt want them president just so that I could flaunt their ability to do so in our borders. What sort of image does that advertise?
Stefy says2015-04-14T18:53:22.4270781-05:00
Ok im done here. You claim to support freedom but you clearly dont support freedom in any way you just use it too support yor own persoel freedom and justofy your bigotry.
minnymilerza says2015-04-14T19:57:04.9155247-05:00
Freedom—what's wrong with someone having a spouse of the same sex? It's genitalia. That's all
TBR says2015-04-14T20:42:07.7628499-05:00
"They can declare themselves any five types of insane that they want ... I wouldnt want them president just so that I could flaunt their ability to do so in our borders. What sort of image does that advertise?" - What indeed. I would call it freedom and equality. Put then in any order you desire. I am proud to be an American, and that message would make me proud.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-15T13:42:28.2554797-05:00
Lemme put it this way. Would you vote a special needs person into office? You wouldnt want to trample on the image that we give them the same rights right? Well what reason can you muster for not wanting a special needs person in office representing you? Now take that reason and realize that it also applies to sexualy confused individuals.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-15T13:45:09.8284042-05:00
"I would call it freedom and equality." I like that you did a little play on words there, but you do realize that it is impossible to have both as long as more than one person exists on this earth, right? I speak of equality in the modern American sense that is.
TBR says2015-04-15T13:47:14.5032018-05:00
"special needs person" now is equal to homosexual? You argument is doing downhill fast. The face my country shows the world should be a guiding light.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-15T13:53:04.7856385-05:00
Guiding light for what? They are there to do a job. If anything about their being drives them to enact policy or feel toward a particular issue that is not in the best interest of the majority of the country ... Then they are a bad candidate. Thats why you wouldnt vote for any minority and expect them to do good. The whole point of voting is for the majority to pick someone who represents the majority. "You claim to support freedom but you clearly dont support freedom in any way you just use it too support yor own persoel freedom and justofy your bigotry." I don't see how this is me not standing for freedom. Im in no way repressing an individual from identifying as whatever they want. All ive stated is why I would never vote for one to carry out this particular job. They can still be whatever person they want to be. I don't really care.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-15T13:55:59.1220585-05:00
And why not a special needs person? Theyre people too right? They have the same rights as gays, as straights, as people, whatever. Would you vote for one? Would you feel offended if people called you a bigot for choosing not to?
TBR says2015-04-15T13:56:19.7818885-05:00
"Guiding light for what? They are there to do a job. If anything about their being drives them to enact policy or feel toward a particular issue that is not in the best interest of the majority of the country ... Then they are a bad candidate. " You brought up the concept of 'image', and it IS important.
minnymilerza says2015-04-15T13:57:14.3143875-05:00
Freedom—so, you'd prefer if we only had WASPS for president?
TBR says2015-04-15T13:57:19.7003362-05:00
"Thats why you wouldnt vote for any minority and expect them to do good. The whole point of voting is for the majority to pick someone who represents the majority." - Contradicts with your 'best man for the job' concept
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-15T13:59:47.5851195-05:00
@stefy Im starting to think this whole bigot calling business is just a form of bullying people into your groupthink mess. Youre worse than the people you hate because your form of repression is generally accepted and goes unchecked.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-15T14:13:35.4675537-05:00
"Contradicts with your 'best man for the job' concept" How. This needs more explanation. Sure image is a big deal. But its outward image, not to you. How do you think a country like Iran looks at us if we send a homosexual to their doorstep? What about any religious state? You may not agree with the way they run things ... But to straight up insult them on their ground isn't smart. Regardless of how you feel about them or their beliefs we will have to make deals with them after wartime. So what then? We just cut ties with the ones that disagree with us and our social practices? Thats a pretty close minded way to run foreign policy and we would be damaged for it.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-15T14:15:04.1614654-05:00
Wtf is a WASP?
TBR says2015-04-15T14:18:54.1819290-05:00
""Contradicts with your 'best man for the job' concept" How. This needs more explanation." - You were saying that electing a minority was... Not representative of the majority. I am saying, if the minority fits your desire for "qualified" then minority status has nothing to do with it. The majority is represented by competence, not race etc.
TBR says2015-04-15T14:20:41.0556701-05:00
"How do you think a country like Iran looks at us if we send a homosexual to their doorstep?" - Like we are moving ahead, not living in a backward dogma addled society.
TBR says2015-04-15T14:22:46.6246910-05:00
"But to straight up insult them on their ground isn't smart." - We are insulting to them on many social points. This is one. This is also a point that makes me PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN! We are there to set the standard, not coward to their static and hostel ideals.
TBR says2015-04-15T14:23:20.9339710-05:00

You were saying that electing a minority was... Not representative of the majority. I am saying, if the minority fits your desire for "qualified" then minority status has nothing to do with it. The majority is represented by competence, not race etc. My point is regardless of who you think is suited, the majority candidate is the one who wins the election, everytime. They inherently have the ideals of the majority at heart to have won in the first place. Unless people just straight up botched their vote. Those are the ones crying about the person lying after they're in office, like they were misled during the campaign process or something.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-15T14:43:35.5147478-05:00
"Like we are moving ahead, not living in a backward dogma addled society." Come on now. You know their leader would never think that ... Now youre just making stuff up because it sounds good.

FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-15T14:54:05.5984369-05:00
"We are insulting to them on many social points. This is one. This is also a point that makes me PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN! We are there to set the standard, not coward to their static and hostel ideals." It'd be alot easier to set the standard if we were able to cooperate with other nations rather than alienate them and go to war with them all the time. Playing a game like this is a form of isolationism. Its why we are in decline. Being pompous and insular. "We just cut ties with the ones that disagree with us and our social practices? Thats a pretty close minded way to run foreign policy and we would be damaged for it." - Straw-man Its not a straw man. Thats a legitimate effect of knowingly offending a nation you were to make trade agreements with. What I said is the exact consequence to what you said we'd do. Insult them on a social point and be proud you did it ... Right?
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-15T14:56:09.9124462-05:00
"The majority of Americans have little issue with homosexuality." Thats why we have or have had a homosexual president right?

"It'd be alot easier to set the standard if we were able to cooperate with other nations rather than alienate them" - Has nothing to do with this. We alienate them with our very culture everyday! || "and go to war with them all the time." - Not by my choice. || "Playing a game like this is a form of isolationism. Its why we are in decline." - Demonstrably untrue or at-least unsubstantiated || "Being pompous and insular. "We just cut ties with the ones that disagree with us and our social practices?" - You are off on a tangent || "Thats a pretty close minded way to run foreign policy and we would be damaged for it." - Straw-man Its not a straw man. Thats a legitimate effect of knowingly offending a nation you were to make trade agreements with. What I said is the exact consequence to what you said we'd do. Insult them on a social point and be proud you did it ... Right?" NO. I say it is proper leadership. We lead the world, what we want for social structures, and practices. That is insular, it is the opposite.
FreedomBeforeEquality says2015-04-15T15:42:08.9533867-05:00
"Not by my choice." But inadvertently, yes you are. Knowing what you know. Knowing the effects of what youre doing before you do them. You might as well be declaring war with them over this. "We alienate them with our very culture everyday!" And so that makes this next iteration of it ok? I think there is a line to be drawn there, between what we do in our borders and what we incite in theirs.
retrogamer176 says2015-04-15T15:45:07.4274504-05:00
@freedombeforeequality "Knowing the effects of what youre doing before you do them." YES! You know the dangers of acting upon your sexuality! It is therefore WRONG to stand up for yourselves! KNOW YOUR PLACE GAYZ!!! GET BACK IN THE CLOSET!!!! WE DON'T WANT YOU!!! YOU DON'T BELONG!!!
