Do you support the "Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013" (and its Scottish equivalent)?

Posted by: Zylorarchy

This legalised same sex/gay/lesbian marriage in England and Wales. A similar Act has subsequently been introduced in Scotland also legalising gay marriage. This means that for 3 out of the 4 countries of the UK, gay marriage is legal, and therefore most of the UK population 97% can legally marry someone of the same sex.

  • If gay marriage wasn't legal, we wouldn't have had this awesomeness broadcast on the TV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Aty_NHweS4

  • Of course, anything else would be bigotry.

  • Okay so the first person that picked "no" obviously did not support much evidence to why gay people are "stupid" and "disgusting." I believe that if you love someone you should be with them. It is true that some gay people have an overproduction of a male or female hormone that causes them to act feminine. Others are just out of plain love for each-other. I personally have no problem with gay people. Take the show modern family for instance: Cam and Mitch. They are the cutest and funniest couple ever. Another example would be Ellen DeGeneres. Would you call her "stupid" and "disgusting" because if you are...her millions of fans will come and get you. Peace out homies :)

2014, this should be normal now.

@Jero: Indeed, the passing of these Acts was great day for the UK :)

I don't think that a bigoted Texan has the right to comment on UK anti-discrimination laws.

I feel sorry for the tolerant Texans. It'll take a few years before that state legalizes gay marriage, somewhere around 2025? Bubba, "God" will forgive you if you don't hate "his creations".

The interesting thing is, if you are against homosexuality a lot of people call you a bigot. So, would you be a bigot or a pedophobe if you didn't accept pedophilia or a bestialiophobe if you didn't accept beastilaity? On a side note, God doesn't hate homosexuals. He just hates the act of homosexuality, big difference.

@Christian_Debater: Homosexuality is actually seen as morally acceptable? It cannot be compared to paedophilia or bestiality. Firstly, homosexuality (on the whole) is consensual and is in fact practised by many animals (450 to be exact). While some of course engage in it, there is very little paedophilia in the animals kingdom and let's get real, paedophilia is almost non-existent compared to homosexuality and bisexuality. And refer to the consensual sense, very few children consent to sex with adults, for obvious reasons. Two homosexuals typically consent. You cannot compare homosexuality to those examples. That is like saying murder should be legal, for we are far more natural killers than we are any of those sexual orientations lets be honest...

When you think abotu it, your analogy for murder is euthanasia which on this website more than 50% agree with. Also, you believe it is morally acceptable, that does not mean everyone else does. That is the problem with assuming it is bigotry. Also, you are assuming a child may not want to have sex with an older man or woman. Just look at all the stories of kids having sex with their teachers in junior and high school but we frown upon that? My main point is, you can't say one is bigotry and the other is not just because you think it is morally acceptable. That is bigotry in itself, "stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed , belief, or opinion that differs from one's own."

@Christian_Debater: If people have differing views on morality (and you're quite right they do), then why should the moral beliefs of some impede others? The majority of the British population supported gay marriage and hence the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 was passed by Parliament. Most people would however say it is morally wrong to engage in child sex acts, or to have sex with animals. Therefore such acts are illegal.
