Do you think its fair to take marks off for using the Imperial system in a graph?

  • Yes, switch to Metric goddamn it!

  • No, it's really not a big deal

  • In the scientific community you are supposed to use the metric system due to communication putposes and the fact that the measurments can be more exact initially and because they dont need to be converted to be read. Just use the metric system it really isnt that hard for you to do. Then you wont get points off. Its simoly ehat you do if you want a place in the scientific community. If you dont, then suck it up.

  • Do it like the rest of the world does... you know.. 1 , 10, 100.. not whatever weird system you got...

  • The US is used to using both systems... We use Imperial AND Metric, and are fluent in both, which is great since most of our buildings were built in Imperial. Switching to Metric offers no benefit (since we already use it) but many Cons (like having to translate hundreds of millions, if not billions, of blueprints/documents to make them readable.)

  • You don't want half the country using one system and half the country using the other. Here in Canada, we are usually fluent in both.

I lost marks because of that!

Talk to your teacher if you think it's unfair.

Good Idea I should do that. But I have a feeling he is Anti-American....

Your teacher is not anti-american because he/she wants you to use the metric system rather than the Imperial system. The metric system is (unknown to most) the US national system, just not mandated. Students would do well to understand the metric system FIRST, and imperial second. Inches work very nicely, but the entity of the world has switched to the metic (SI) and it is much better for general use.

I know I should have used the metric system, (better for science and such) but It is quite ridiculous that I lose marks for it(I would have got perfect on that assignment). I'm probably going to talk to him about it anyways.

In my opinion though, I think the imperial system is more practical in everyday usage. The metric system is great for precise calculations and research. Even the U.S army uses metric.

Exactly. Its better for research. So its perfectly fair to take points off if it isnt used on a graph

No its not. Politically speaking, I'm allowed to use the Imperial System on my graphs.
