@komododragon8 : You can blame that on our justice system and over priced lawyers. Professional lawyers are one of the worst things ever to happen to the world. If it were limited to public defenders, who were paid nothing but a decent living wage instead of millions of dollars for a single case, things would be different. Justice should not be expensive. If we fix our legal system, and get rid of high priced lawyers, things would be a lot better.
The lawyers defending death row convicts are NOT making millions. The cases cost a ton for lots of reasons. There is NO way to make this cheap without denying basic protections built into our justice system.
Bohica: If you would read my source, you would know that the price comes not just from lawyers but also from the fact that they need expert witnesses and more court cases. All of this is designed to make sure they dont kill an innocent person.
@tajshar2k - There is no need to beat this into the ground, but I have never found a source saying it is LESS expensive to kill. I would be interested in that, but it would not change my mind one bit. The only reason anti-death penitently people bring that up is because pro-death penitently people always seem to assume it is cost-effective to just kill them.
